GS-Milliput mix?

Okay I\'ve heard a lot about mixing Green stuff and Milliput together to make it more workable as trying to shape pure GS is like shaping a brick.
seems to get good results as I saw on the FW large scale marine thread.
Now this was a 50/50 mix, my question is what do you all use?
50/50?
70/30?
GS+other materials?

Ps, It\'s nice to be back after almost a year away from CMON.

i use a gs/ milliput mix. The ratio depends on what its for.

For cloth 70:30 gs to milli
For armour 70:30 milli to gs
For bulking stuff out, 100% milli

I\'ve used a 50:50 GS/magic sculp mix for sculpting before. It\'s nice because it smooths well with water, isn\'t as elastic as pure GS, I find it\'s easier to control than pure magic sculp and when it hardens you can sand and carve it.

No, as long as its mixed properly, there are no probs.

what he said

What they said.

They are essentially the same chemical, all epoxy resins are closely related. It\'s the fillers that change.

Bear in mind it\'s clearly not that way for every user.

Apart from older stuff that\'s gone off (the ribbon is well known for this) some people just can\'t get on with some things, but GS is actually pretty easy to learn to use.

Depends on what I\'m using it for - if I want to use a blend but have the cured putty stay flexible I might use more than a 1:1 mix.

But for general stuff 1:1 is a good starting point; experiment, see what you think yourself. The age and consistency of your Milliput (and the temperature of the room you work in) will play a part in what works well for you, as well as your \'touch\'.

I\'ve tried GS with Milliput, Symasta, Apoxie Sculpt and MagicSculp. All worked fine, hardened fine. Oh, and Plastiline, which hardened adequately but was friable.

Regardless of what you use I\'d recommend you mix the GS and the other putty normally, before blending them together.

And all this aside I\'d recommend MagicSculp as generally better than a GS/Milliput blend; sure easier to mix!

Ah, the ribbon might be the problem, I bought a load of it a while back and vacuum packed it so it wouldn\'t spoil. but I\'ve been using the same strip for a while now. Still not keen on the properties of the stuff though. It has major adhesion problems and is a **** to smooth evenly on it own.

Will do! It was mainly my wariness of messing with the curing properties that\'s stopped me, but I\'ve seen some really impressive pieces recently that\'s sparked my interest.
