You know, I come to this place to relax and enjoy myself. I\'ve come to think of this place as a kind of home and the people here as family. I recently took a self-imposed two week (or so) hiatus from here. The climate here seemed to have soured. It seemed to have gotten mean spirited, filled with cruel personal attacks and endless bitching. Frankly, due to things in my RL, I was in no mood for it. So I took some time off.

So I came back, hoping that the ill-wind had blown over. Guess I was wrong. Still not in any mood to put up with it, so I guess I\'m going back on hiatus.

I ENJOY painting mini\'s. It\'s a HOBBY for me. I guess maybe that\'s why I don\'t understand why it can be important enough to waste numerous pages on personal attacks and accusations over a change of .13 in someone\'s average score. Sorry Eric, don\'t mean to single you out, but that whole deal just seems like a prime example.

So, I didn\'t say anything before, but I am this time. I\'m taking off for a while, at least from the Forums. Y\'all have fun. Seriously! Y\'all just need to remember that this place is SUPPOSED to be F U N. Least I thought that was why people took up hobbies, to enjoy themselves. For now I guess I\'ll jsut go back to \"Voting Only\" mode.



PS - I didn\'t post this to get anybody in trouble or anything like that. Don\'t really know why I posted it. I guess just to vent my spleen about what\'s happened to a place I used to love and enjoy. Oh, and if anybody feels the need, feel free to snipe my mini\'s all you want in retaliation lol:moon::rolleyes::p

I agree with you, I thought this was the nicest place I\'ve ever found on the net, but lately people are getting a little... irritated? :)

But do what I do: read the fun stuff, ignore the rest and join the miniature exchange ;)

To some extend I agree with you. But I don\'t think leaving is the answer. What I have in my sif is somthing I belive in. The world will only be as good as you make it. So please stay dauber and we\'ll get to keep all the fun that comes with your posting. Who knows it might be enougth to lighten up the mood around here :D :flip:

Well, I guess I can see your frustration and if thats who you feel, who am I (other than your doppleganger) to tell you your wrong.

My point of view is that you take what you want out of this place. I usually steer clear of \'touchy topics\' (other than to insert a few \'smart arse\' remarks now and again), and I always seem to have \'fun\' doing it.

It is easy to get sucked in to all the controversial dramafest stuff, but at the end of the day it is only opinons. Except the stuff I post, which is usually facts.

Don\'t go away, just become more of a \'buffet\' forum goer. Pick and choose the fun ones, ignore the rest.

I\'ve got to many years under my belt..to get worked up over most things. The hot button topics, I just keep my mouth shut and think Zen or Notty thoughts..take your pick;):plol

I was just getting to know you, sort of. At least as well as anyone who has never actually met can know someone. I was hoping we could down a pint sometime, being a fellow New Yorker. Too many \"Old\" Yorkers around here. lol

Editted: Only just now went over to the Ebil thread, didn\'t think I posted there but I did. All I said was congrats. Damn shame people have to get so bent outta shape about their art. I remember reading about some German guy once. He got REALLY pissed off at a whole group of people over HIS art. I think he went off the deep end one day and tried to take over the world. Came close to succeeding, too. Now just imagine how different the world might be if people actually liked his stuff. :rolleyes:

I know what you mean and went through something similar a few months back - now I only post occassionally (you wouldn\'t thinks so if you counted how many I\'ve put up today:D).

CMON is a bit like a family - you have the occassional row and then make up.

Take out of CMON what you want but don\'t get bent out of shape by those who get too serious about their toy soldiers!

Hope you come back soon - I put you on the side of light:D

I respect your decision. You have had other things to contend with and they will have inevitably \'filtered\' your perceptions of life, such as debates on this site.

I have also taken posting \'holidays\' NO!! don\'t laugh...;) It does get a bit hectic here at times, especially when you consider the subject matter.

CMON wouldn\'t be the same though without your wit and wisdom. Despite my own post count, you and Jim have been the backbone of this site for as long as I can remember...

Join us again...soon. We will all, without exception, miss you:D

I\'m just guessing at Dauber\'s intent here, but northerners will usually use southern slang when trying to sound \"folksy\", and since the Daubs was talking about family I think he was going for a kins-folk kinda thing. No harm, no foul. Besides, I\'m not sure what part of NY Dauber is from, but some of those Upstaters are pretty darn rustic.lol
