I started to paint this awesome miniature. I do the bases, but i'm not completely convinced. Any advice?

I'm wondering if the white lines work, can't make my mind up. Would black be better with a thin highlighted edge to show the crack ?

Yes, though it could mean having to alter the base to show some more damage to the pillars etc. Try it out on test piece first and see what you think.
If you stick with the white vein then they need to be thinner.

I think the viens are too thick and they need to go in the same general direction. Marble generally has a grain like wood with a direction for each slab. SO you could change direction on pieces but each piece has to have a flow if you get my meaning. I do love the coloring of the marble though :)

For black marble i took this picture as an example. If i repaint the white veins with a blue light grey in the inside?

I don't think it's the color so much as what Zab said - some of the veins are too thick. The right corner of the base looks good, as does the part I can see over his left shoulder. Just thinning/toning down the white would probably go a long way, without having to introduce new color(s). Though if you did want to add a second color, I would go with a brown or red as opposed to a blue.

Marble has tons of layers. If you're set on black, glaze over what you have now with black/dark blue and then do some more white/tan veins. Do this around 4 or 5 times with very thin black glazes and you will end up with realistic looking marble. I'm not very good at explaining what I mean so feel free to PM and I can talk you through the theory.
