Gunship Ogre, italian GD finalist

Hi all,
this is my last conversion, finalist at the last italian GD.
I spent on it more than 250 hours from the conversion to the painting.
The turret is made with plasticard and green stuff for the wood. I partially resculpted the ogre with green stuff to obtain a much bigger one (I started from a bull ogre). Resculpted parts: ogre body, the upper part of the arms, legs, part of the face, part of the cannons. All the gnoblars are converted, and the snotling/anchor is made with parts of 3 snotlings and green stuff.

As much as I love the paintjob, the conversion is giving me some troubles.

I\'m sorry but that Ogre really looks like he should be hunched over, or at least have a more realistic stance for his legs. He would probably have a wider stance, or at least some flex in the knees. Not easy to do without a total resculpt, but you definitely look capable

Still one of the coolest Ogre conversions I\'ve ever seen, but still had some untapped potential IMO. The idea is very cool, no doubt about that.

Luca, very nice. I do have a problem with the stance, looks to straight up and down. Also looks alittle back heavy. other then that love the concept, and hope to the painting gods that one day I\'ll be able to paint as nice as this piece.

I know what you mean about things looking different in person... I have some models that look fine in your hand but look like they\'re going to tip over in pictures ???

Absolutely brilliant! I love the \'missile head\' on the snotling, and the ninja snotling too. Overall, comical and beautifully executed. Luverly stuff!

There\'s a fault though, a common mistake that many people make. Your flames are upside down! Flames are always hottest (and lightest) in the middle. The bottom should be yellow, and the top red.

cool concept and beautiful painting. although i agree with the comments on the stance. he would need to lean forewards if he was carrying that much. trust me i did a lot of hiking for my duke of edinburgh award and i\'m sure my backpack was lighter than that and i was nearly falling over! and again the flames are the wrong way round as modderru said. still looks awesome

I have to say I agree with you(jericho and others) about the stance, if It was a human being in real life... but it is a monster and that turret is a little bag for him!!
However in real life ogre legs are a bit more bended but this is not evident in the pictures....

Yes, I agree the fire is not so realistic: I painted it like showed in some white dwarfs, but I admit the reversed fire techique it\'s much more realistic.

Realy funny idea and funny execution. It`s remember me a russian movie \"Treasure island\". There was a huge deaf-and-dumb pirate which work like living gun-carriage. This model mush more funny even then russian cartoon \"Treasure island\" with lots of black humourlol
