But seriously, that was an IDIOTIC decision. My friend coulddn\'t believe that.

Is he gone? I thought he was just not doing the letters anymore. I was under the impression that he was still doing photography and odd articles.?.

Nope, they fired him :(

And to those in England, like James Sequira, he was the best GW/WD staffer there was.

Wow that sucks. The small amount of interaction I had with Steve (at GD\'s) was very pleasant; he seemed nice and was always helpful.

like most business\'s in england, they are constantly having to cut back and get cheaper staff.

a lot of english companies in the last couple of years have gone under through making decisions like that.

hopefully gw will wake up and sort itself out. (who am i kidding)

Yes Steve in the US was the draw that brought me to enjoy and subscribe to the Mag.
After meeting him at the Atlanta Gd there was no question in my mind many people were effected by his charm and bright outlook for his employer.
He was shafted and it sucks. I looked at the last writing and was bitter really. I will not look at the business the same again for it is lame and floundering.
Whats New huh?

Sorry Vike
Just my general feeling of disdain, I should not have said it because it is more a personal thing.
Corporations do not give the time for individuals to reorganize their life after serving the individual business for so long.
I hope Steve will find a wonderful compeditor to work for and sing for... you know he has a great set of pipes?? Quite the singer he is.

they did not stop selling to independants

well you guys were looking for people inside of gw, well i was inside for a long while. its not that gw stoped selling to indpendant in the us it was very much the oppsite. the only problem is that most store just can\'t support the gw product line well enough for them to feel that it is worth something to there bussiness. it is hard i know. i have run store for the last 8 years and took care of more then a few indepndants, when i was there. the problem truly comes from the people in the hobby community. almost every problem i had to deal with was caused by a store that just did not understand the hobby and how it worked. but there customers did and then again some did not and those that did not were very damaging to those around. imagine being 12 years old again and going to your local gaming store, you just got started in the greastest hobby in the world. now you sit down and start to talk about the games and the first thing you hear about is how evil and wrong GW is. thats damging to the hobby as a whole, that kid was the future and now he is scard and has only heard the negative from those who, to him, are the vets of the hobby. people are going to read this and think it a load but i had this young hobbist and his mother share there worry to me, this happened.
in the us the hobby has often had a funny or negative view with some consumers and to be honest this stigma has finial started to lift. lets be truthful people in the states are often worried about image and with teens as the target market that image of the cool kid, does not contain little plastic men. that makes the us a hard market but even in the face of that people have grow to love and accept gw gaming and that is growing with every new hobbist.
it hard out there and often store open and carry gw and do not think of all the work it takes to make the hobby grow. it is a fear that i have had for a long time but after leaving gw found that fear to be untrue. the hobby in the us is still gowing and will very much continue to grow because gw is taking a lot of strides to make it more sucessful in store that show growth. i mean does it make sense to waste time on accounts that don\'t support the hobby or does it make more sense to work with store that will, that my thoughts and i speak only for myself and what i know and have seen.
thanks fore reading my rant.

Is the minimum GW starting investment for a Independent retailer $5000.00 still ?and you get what they decide you should have?
It was the last time I checked but it has been a few years. has that policy changed? Just curious if any one is up on that?

Sorry Tab, didn\'t mean to put you on the spot....I just thought there was more \'public\' knowledge of what happened to Mr. Dirty....

I don\'t know him at all, other than from the forums here, but I did meet him when we went to Chicago Gamesday a few years back. I approached him in the hotel because I had boneheadedly forgotten my tickets at home. He help set me in the right direction. Seems to be a good guy all around.

well it depends. gw gives terms depending on what you want to do. but yes i do think it is around there last i checked. but remeber 5k is not very much when your store is doing well, and the returen is double that and if you grow the hobby. the return to the store is a very good return because well we have to buy from some one.
that and if you can\'t deal with games workshop credit line there are other vendors that can get you the product, if your a store that is.
and no they don\'t decide what you buy. they have a start up kit that has the base product for any store that has nothing as far as gw goes but that can be changed depending on the needs of the store or package being sold.
