its early days, they are possibly watching the threads and waiting to jump in feet first with us 'wonderful' people......
....its not my fault, TBS normally hijacks the threads.

*shakes fist at sky* Oh Sarcasm, why can't you translate to a typed message? I was just trying to say that everything is more expensive. Inflation and price hikes are inevitable. And somewhere up there someone came up with the simple solution - don't buy it. The only reason people complain about prices is because they want an item. If they didn't want it, it wouldn't be an issue.

I think this is maybe my fourth post and I have never really posted in forums before. Just trying to get the hang of it.

Tht's okay hun, Sarcasm is a very rare art to put across into the written word (or typed in this case)

Sorry for jumping on you. I really should learn to be nicer to new people and not scare them away

When I worked at one of the GW stores here in Maryland and the mail order Trollz where still here the whole office had to have a meeting on that fact lol. Apparently one of them had sent back a response to a question that would have gotten smiles and general good cheer at if said in person. But the way it came off in text = Red angry vain in head and some jumping up in down by the higher up it was sent to >.<

for me, it's not the price, it's the quality of the product.....finecast is in essence...shit....My mate has his own independent shop that stocks gw gear and he's had more returns since finecast in the first month or so than in the last 3 years of stocking their stuff...I bought a skulltaker off him and opened it..half the foot that sits on the pile of skulls was simply missing....a customer the same day returned a librarian...was so porly cast you couldn't even make out the face.....then only last week a techmarine was returned because the marines head and body were barely recognisable......crappy crappy quality....

Sounds like GW is too proud to do quality control.
On the contrary, TRUE PRIDE in your product would have prevented these issues.

As it has been explained to me, GW packing is done by "Blister Sisters", employed solely to package without knowledge or interest in either the games or product. (Possibly on minimum wage) QC is supposed to be done at that point, (a bit late in my opinion) and for every return there is supposed to be a deduction in wages. (?)
Now how accurate this is I'm not 100% sure, but it was explained to me by a former GW employee.

you all complain but when i initially got into the hobby 12-14 years ago things were ALOT different. for example-the new plastic death company/sanguinary guard are an absolute dream to work with compaired to all the metal crap they used to sell. not only are they easier to work with, the models themselves look 10 times better than the old stuff. did you know death company only used to come as metal marines? you could buy the box of 10 which was atleast 40-50 bucks, prob more. or you could buy them in blister packs of 2 for 10+ bucks. and guess what, they also didnt come with the jump packs. the metal jump packs were sold in a seperate blister, 3 jump packs for ANOTHER 10+ bucks. so lets say you want a 6 man death company with jump packs. you were looking at around 70 bucks with tax. nevermind the fact the models looked like crap compaired to the new stuff.

alot of the stuff used to be like this. there were alot fewer of the plastic boxed sets. say you wanted to make a unit of grave guard weights for an undead army. you were forced to build the whole squad from metal blister packs of 2 models. same with savage orcs, men at arms etc. it all used to come in metal blisters. do the math, a unit of 20 weights was 100+ bucks.

I'm still complaining, because the old metal Death Company were light years better than the new crappy plastic ones....

But that's just my opinion and opinions are like arseholes...everybody has got one;)

oh please. you realize im talking about the 90s ones right, the box set came with that crapy looking chaplain.

1. metal legs - torso - head all in one chunk, only 3 variants. no posing option at the torso or head. now we have 5 legs 5 torso and 8 heads all interchangable with a million other plastic space marine parts.

2. crapy looking plastic arms. plastic glued to metal is stupid and breaks alot more easily.

3. no shoulder pad variation. flat, generic is your one and only option.

4. NO JUMP PACKS WITHOUT MAKING A SEPERATE PURCHASE.

5. no thunder hammer, purity seals etc.

you must hate variety. please explain what made those crap old models "light years" ahead.

They are packaged in the UK correct? Is that even legal across the pond?

Here, the laws state that unless you're under a contract (not too rare but it's not all that common either), you are considered employed "at will" and are hourly, salary or perhaps commission (commission can be either at will or contract). "At will" means you can quit whenever you want to, it also means the employer can fire you whenever they want to. If you have a contract then it gets dicey because it all depends on the contract signed. But those contracts still have to be legal under federal and state laws.

The only way I can see that being legal is if the Blister Sisters get paid per piece. For every piece they package, they get so much money (but that wouldn't be minimum wage - minimum is an hourly rate). If Sister sends it back instead of packaging it, she doesn't get paid for it. But on the other hand, have you ever watched someone experienced on an assembly line? There's a lady where I work, she gets paid per piece for every item of clothing she presses. She has six industrial size pressing machines around her. That woman flies through them. And she has no qualms about sending something back if it's not ready to be pressed because she just steps it up and makes up for the piece. It's mind-boggling to watch how fast she moves and has the pressing time down perfectly. And let me tell you, this lady makes some serious money.

But here an hourly wage employee MUST be paid for the hours they have worked - by law. Our company does uniform rentals and a lot of our customers have employees pay for that service as a payroll deduct. Legal if the employee signs a paper agreeing to it. Unfortunately, when the employee quits, if they don't return all of their uniforms or the garments are damaged, they also get hit with paying the replacement charges. But fewer companies are doing that now because an employee can fight it in court. Many employees just aren't knowledgeable about the laws to fight the charges coming out of their check when they leave. If they did a little research, they might be surprised.

It would be interesting to find out if the Blister Sisters are contract, per piece, earners or hourly getting ripped off earners. I know we never will find that out but it still would be interesting. ;)

Again, I'm applying the laws I know of from the US, the UK could be far different but I know many of your laws are similar to ours in many instances.
