GW Closes last Georgia store

I happened to be in the Mall of Georgia today and noticed that GW has closed their doors. Don't know if that matters to anyone here. I think that was the last GW store in the state.

Good Riddance.

Georgia was home of the shittiest Golden Demon contest on the planet, that's all I needed to know :p

Anyway I'm kinda wondering if there's more closures/restructuring to come in the States, I know at least one of the area managers is gone as of the other day (they are one level above Regional Managers). Could be an isolated problem, or maybe the start of another big shakeup and clean house maneuver. Time will tell.

I think GW is going through a little shake up.
I think they are trying to get out of high rent malls. Here in Toronto two of the 4 store closed and moved to street locations. Makes sense in this economy.

Had to check. Nearest Games Workshop Hobby Center is 779 miles away. That doesn't count any FLGS, of course.

I own the closest store to the GW store at the Mall of Georgia and you are more than welcome to check us out! I carry all the normal GW stuff as well as the Direct items that you normally have to order online. I have a computer setup at the front of the store that has Army Builder loaded up on it for everyone to use. We have ten full tables that are available with additional tables for tournaments. If you want to check us out its The Tower Game Center at thetowergames.com. The address is 860 Duluth Hwy Ste 210 Lawrenceville, GA 30043. We are in a shopping center with Staples, Starbucks, and Hooters. We have a lot of the players from the GW store playing with us!

And I'm guessing you have Reaper mini's and all that to boot. That's why I prefer the mom & pop hobby shops when you can find them. They tend not to be overly focused.

Best gaming store I used wasn't a GW shop. It wasn't even a game shop. It was a train and hobby shop that just happened to have a miniatures section. Only two tables, but us being the local miniature rascals we would sit there and play for hours on saturday while our parents stayed home and did.... oh my. It was run by an ex-clown named rich who had a passion for painting orks and models jets. And clown memorabilia.

Ah nostalgia...

They're adding more stores around the Dallas area, and hiring more people. No one's heard about them trying to close the one mall store, but from GW's past record, they might not know until it's too late.

They're down to one in NJ. I think at one point we had 2 or 3, plus 2 in close proximity (NYC and Palisades mall). NYC is still open but the Palisades mall store is long since gone.

The shame of it is the one they closed was right on my way home and an easy stop. Oh well.

I've bought stuff from you already (At your old location as well, when you had comics). Nice store keep up the good work, nice to see that you have more space now.

I also patronize Phoenix Games on GA-20. Great bunch as well.
