GW Commissar Project - COMPLETE

Hiya guys, been working on this commissar for a few days now, have already done most of the basecoats and have done some shading and highlighting also :)For the base i am going to do a snow scene, just rubble and rocks i think with snow on top :)

Here\'s some pics so far:

I will probably be entering this to GDUK this year, i think it won\'t get too far but i don\'t mind LOL :p :p :p

Comments and stuff always welcome.

I like the look of it so far. My concern is though, you seem to be going for a more subtle, realistic look (with the softer grey that is what i am imagining) and so i think that maybe the red bolt pistol will look out of place. A camo/drab green may make it not look out of place if this is the path you are going down.

Skin tones on the face look really good but I think you need to add some more contrast into his coat and there is also a clash between the grey you have used and his steel breast plate in that they are almost merging in colour, maybe darkening the greys will bring this out more.

The jacket in these pics has only received a little shading at this point, i will be doing much more :p

And about the gun...I originally painted it a dark green and was disatisfied with that then i painted it red as seen in the pics and i\'m not too happy with that either! I will be painting it a neutral colour i think :)

How about doing the gun black, but with gold/copper/bronze detailing? Make it appear master-crafted :)

A damn fine idea indeed, i might have to do that one, cheers! I was planning to do some of the metal parts in brass anyway so i think that could work very nicely. Cheers dude.

i\'d reccomend leaving the gun for now, once you have shaded the coat and painted more of him it may tie in with it

looks fab so far

It\'s hard for me to remember the exact colours used but i can try.....

To start off i used elf flesh, (i like to start very light) then i incrimentally added dwarf flesh i think as the first shade. After this basic start i started adding some weird colours :p i added plenty of dark flesh with some scab red and red gore glazed in now and then, but more layers of reds were near the scar and his neck. Tbh it hasn\'t been highlighted all that much, i re applied some elf flesh to the skin to neaten it up again and added some white yellow and bleached bone for highlights, for the stubble i added some darker tones like dark flesh and started adding codex grey to it, then it was highlighted with bleached bone. That\'s about it i think.

Just make sure you water your paints right down, i find this especially important on detailed areas, like faces. Hope you can make some sense of what i have just said lol.

Some progress made today! The gold looking parts are going to be a lot duller and more brass looking later but it\'s just basecoated atm, i think the grey parts are just about done, a bit of tidying up and maybe a little more highlighting...

That face is looking really good, really natural. The greys i think will tie in nicely with the silver breast(hehe) plate.

Overall good job so far!!

The skin tone is really natural, I think you have the whoe texture thing down pretty well. The only aspect of the model I\'m not a fan of is the yellow at the bottom of the coat, it doesn\'t look entirely natural. Could be the blending, but the main thing is that the transition in the colours isn\'t there yet.

Yeh, i know the yellow is a little strong, but i\'m not too worried about it as i am going to put weathering at the bottom of the coat :) I have pretty much finished all the metal parts on the mini, i will try and post pics soon...

Just giving you the heads up; I\'m not going to be able to paint for a few days or take pics, helping someone all weekend... I will definately get it done next week :)
