.. and I have since made an aluminium hat.

But really, anyone who subscribes to WD or has recently ordered something from them has gotten \"Troll\". If you look, you\'ll see they\'ve used Skaven as Kroot for chaos.. I came up with that, a long time ago!!

While not necessarily being used for chaos, tey\'d be part of my Invader Zim Tau Army. For those of you who aven\'t seen it, shame on you!! And double shame on Nickelodeon for replacing it with the piece of crap for a head Jimmy Newtron.

Anyway, I was going to use them as The Slaughtering Rat People from Planet Blortch.

I was even going to go so far as using The Tallest as etherals, because both are basically figureheads that sit around and eat snacks.... And then there is the multiple Ground Vehicles of the Irken Armada that are obviously Tau Battlesuits.

Well, I guess I\'m just paranoid.... or am I? :D

It surprises anyone that GW steals? Come on, guys!! that\'s all they\'ve ever done!! read the thread on Conan! Look at Tolkein er, I mean, Warhammer Fantasy Battle. Look at the Necrons (The Terminator). Look at the Khemrians (remind anybody of The Mummy?) Stealing other people\'s ideas is what GW does!! They just change the names.

I totally disagree with this line of thinking. By the very same logic, almost everything \'fantasy\' that we\'ve ever seen, read, or heard is a ripoff of Tolkein, or folk stories. No, scratch that - Tolkein was a ripoff of folk stories too.

The question isn\'t whether you rip things off or not, because let\'s face it - everbody has to rip off something. The question is: How much thought of your own do you put into it? Warhammer is very different from Tolkein in that respect. Maybe not so different from the stereotypical D&D thing, but most people aren\'t.

Anywhoo. The point is that everything rips off something else - even the guy that supposedly \"started\" fantasy.

they stole my idea to write and publish the liber caotica which they \"created\". altho they didnt release its existance until recently ..a few days after i dreamed it up while playing marrowind and reading one of the thousands of books there are in that game..isnt it awesome...this game is filled with books! ahhh i must go play!

You say that you had an idea to make a futuristic rat space army? And that GW, having already had a futuristic war game, and a fantasy game with a rat army, stole your idea?

If you conceed that GW has had the Warhammer 40K game for a good long while, and you conceed that they have had the skaven army for Fantasy battles for a good long while... both of which you should conceed, by the way... then I think you will agree that perhaps GW has been thinking of the possibility of a skaven army for 40k for a good long while.

They aren\'t idiots down there at GW. And if you believe that they rip off everything they can get away with, which they may, then why wouldn\'t they rip off their very own game. Space skaven was inevitable, even if you did think of it first.

ps. There are still new ideas out there to be discovered. I\'ve personally found them all. I kept some and left a bunch behind for yall to discover. I didn\'t want to take all the glory.:D

Nope nope nope...JRRT Created \"Hobits\" and the detailes of goblins,the \"ORCS\" for example,and the entire world of the stories,all his....but sure he was inspired by stories written before his time,that I can agree with.

This is just a matter of where you draw the line between inspiration and theft.

A world with elves and goblins and men fighting to save the world against an evil sorcerer and restore a kingdom. That\'s a common thread you can hardly say anyone stole.

Orc - word coined by Tolkein
Balrog - word coined by Tolkein
Hobbit - race completely conceived by Tolkein
Etc. etc.

There are many elements of originality, but Tolkein was not creating in a vacuum and no one else ever was either. Everyone has drawn inspiration from somewhere and sometimes maybe they took too much but that\'s a hard line to draw. Tolkein himself never thought his books were particularly \"new.\" He thought he was just following the English tradition that went back to Beowulf.

Lord knows that a ton of folk like to try to be a Haley,ect....:rolleyes:

when I have trobel painting something I`ll look at one of my art books or come here and peep for a bit....

Actually, some things tolkien did steal from mythology, and was way off on was dwarves and elves. Elves in Norse myths were not how he conceived them, but more impish like. Dwarves were almost exactly the same as in norse myths, but since they were created from stone by the gods, they turned to stone in sunlight. Trolls just exploded.

Nahh your right,but we art types all borrow insperation from each other,no need to debate it really...as long asfolk ain`t plain long swipeing copyrighted materials,it`s no biggi,and a part of what we all do.

But then you get a few of us that do something way cool and with hardly any rip `n off from what was already done by others.

I have come up with a few of thee from time to time....and it is nice to do something that you know is a one of a kind,for the most part anyhow.

I sort of felt the same way when I saw that GW was selling it\'s old coffin shields and zombies as a bargan a few months after I bought them from GW mail order.....but at least that\'s what they were inteded for.

You remember my Gauntfield the Scarecrow? That was totally my own inspration, now look at this....
If it\'s not enough to steal my evil Scarecrow Idea, who the hell does American McGee think he is? Frank L. Baum wrote Oz, and it looks like McGee and McFarlane Toys can put bondage on it and call it their own! Sheesh...

I beileve I read in a Psychology book that feeling that people are stealing your thoughts is a sign of schizophrenia...

I know the feeling

Ever since the space wolves codex came out(im a lazy bastard) I came up with the idea to do a chaos army up as the wulfen one, but seems like there is goin to be one for the Eye of Terror thing...
