So just finished this up yeasterday. Black is a tough color to paint! WOndering if I should add higher highlights to the armor? Comments and critiques welcomed! I have always been a large scale historical painter and wondering if I am making any progress in mini's painting. This is my 4th mini so please tell me where I am doing things right wrong and areas for improvement. Thanks

yes black can be tough to shade using a hue of blue intead of gray actually gives the mini a more black look with shadows being a lil bit longer with a lot of wet blending unless you are going for a flat black finish then start with a more dark dark gray then shadow with black and highlight with very fine thinned white

Actually, I kind of like the black how you've done it.

I'd suggest really bringing up the highlights on everything that is NOT black. That would really give you a solid contrast.
