I was about to paint the space marines from Black Reach and I was going to follow this tutorial

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/c...dex=1&aId=6500052a&multiPageMode=true&start=2

I primed one marine in choas black spray and the applied the first coat of Mordial blue and it was really really dark and nothing like the GW site. I mixed up 1:1 regal blue and ultramarine blue and even that was darken then GW tutorial I listed above.

Is it just my eyes, lighting or it's really lighter?. What color are you guys painting your ultramarines?.

you want several thin coats of mordian blue over a black base (personally i stopped using black undercoat as getting base coats on it is horrible) if you water your paints down to about 3parts water to 1 part paint, then your looking for 3 or 4 even coats. but you have to remember that the images have been altered by gw to make them lighter and easier to see)

even trying to get a smooth even base coat over grey or white is pretty fricken annoying. honestly the army painters coloured primers save a dump load of time. having your primer colour close to your base coat colour is the cat's ass. only draw back is army painter is expensive.

for a cheap primer krylon grey is awesome.
