GW raises their prices

GW has announced that they will raise the price on a number of products. For instance, plastic regimental boxes are raised from £15 to £18. That\'s a 20% increase of the price!

when they improve the castings! ill pay more! and untill then, ill buy from independant stockists that give discounts!

Well, you\'d better get those before April then... that\'s when the increase will happen. That would save you over 100 SEK, most likely.

Ugh! Again?!?

GW\'s getting closer to pricing themselves into the 30+ age group. The gamers I know in this group (including myself) are no longer hypnotized by the GW aura.

How\'s a teenager supposed to get started in this hobby? One blister at a time, I guess.

:mad:This is typicall, but they seem to do this every few months, or they\'ll raise the price of individual items so that people dont recognise the price change as much, for e.g. everyone will remember the paint price increase a while ago, shortly after that all of the £12 lotr boxed sets were increased to £15, and now this, Tbh if Gw can get away with this, (which they will) you might as well applaud them because they\'re obviously rooling the roost in the market, i wish they\'d leave prices as they are (or even drop them a bit  ) but its not going to happen. Actually it probably won\'t be long until we\'re discussing the next price increase from £18 to £20, but thats not important right now;).
Just my two cents.

Another reason..

This is just another reason that I don\'t normally buy GW stuff unless I have to...

but, in their defense, they aren\'t the only ones raising prices. Reaper did it not long ago, citing raising metal costs.

P.S. - just realized that this was my 666th post...seems appropriate to be talking about GW... lol

hmm.. they already changed the prices here like last yr... it better not happen again  alot of stuff wen up by about 2 or 3 dollars.... but alot also went down by 2 or 3... for example carnifex and tyrant used to be 50 each and now they\'re 45 each.. and g-stealers are now 30 instead of 35... however warriors are now 40

Calm down, gentlemen.

According to a Finnish GW representative:

\"GW:n edustajalta eilen kuultuna - hinnat nousevat toistaiseksi vain Briteissä.\"

In english: GW rep confirmed yesterday that (this time) prices increase only in the UK.

...and vote with your wallet. I haven\'t bought a GW mini since they recently increased their prices and most certainly won\'t be buying anything in the future either. Too darn expensive for such static and boring looking minis. With these prices Rackham gets my business - or I\'ll buy second hand, if I happen to need something.

I\'ve spent a fortune with Rackham recently...

Unlike GW they seem to want to encourage customers. 10% discount if you are a member of the Confed, free postage over 100E and loads of free, blistered minis for each 100E you spent. Plus they have their Dragon Gems scheme.

EDIT: I have just worked out the value of the free minis they sent me with my last E100 order which were: Irix the Sybil, Wolven Warriors (3), Wolven Hunter (1) and Wolven predator (1) and it comes to approximately E61:D You can\'t beat that sort of generosity in my book.

You don\'t have to have Wolven either, there are a range of races on offer.

GW can only take what the market gives, and it\'s hard to blame them for doing so. As was pointed out on some items the market gave less so they lowered their prices, on others they realized they could raise them...

Ok, that\'s just my economics background talking, of course I think it stinks!

When will the madness stop , maybe starting a campaign to introduce people to other minature brands, alot of people only seem to go for GW (like me not to long ago) but there are loads of other great miinatures out there which probaly dont get noticed.
Did\'nt the GW box sets start off at £10?

Free Rackham minis!

Not all is doom and gloom out there folks. Rackham are still giving away free minis with orders of over E100 plus free shipping. (although I don\'t know if that covers places outside Europe..it might do??? )

Sorry to be plugging them, but I feel that GW needs to feel \'the bite\':D

These are the free minis you can get:

Oh boy! Another \"GW price hike\" thread! **yawn** No offense meant to anybody, just not excited anymore by GW bashing threads. Yes, it sucks that they are raising their prices. It also sucks that the price of gas is going up, and everything else, too. There will be much moaning and gnashing of teeth and sweariing that no one will ever buy GW products again, etc. etc. etc... And everything will go on just as it has before.

Sorry to interupt everybody\'s fun.

I am also waiting - impatiently - for my Wolfen army to arrive. Silly really when I don\'t play and at the rate I paint I will have \"work\" for the next five years!

I have become so dissilusioned with GW recently I am even contemplating stopping my monthly trip to pick up White Dwarf - which I\'ve been reading for 14 years!

Still Harbinger should be here soon!;) and in another couple of months the next Cry Havoc will be out.:D

This should not be shocking to anyone. GW does this about every 6 months. They really love to raise prices with a relaunch, new game or new models. :flame:

The funny part is no matter how many times I have heard people complain about the prices of GW\'s stuff, they still seem to be the leader in the wargaming industry.

If I wargamed I would probably pick up the Rackham stuff as the sculpts are incredible (for the most part). :D

Hi Nomis! Happy New Year!

They are a bit slow on their delivery aren\'t they??? They do arrive eventually however.

I gave up on WD last year. 4.99 for an advert:flame:

Try Cry Havoc. I know it is expensive, but it is superb, well worth reading (Make sure you get the English version) and the quality is out of this world!! You also don\'t feel the need to kick it under the settee should unexpected visitors arrive:D

Poor Ebonbuddha, he must be hugging the great white telephone by now. Drink, laddie, drink! :|~

There are exactly 4 blisters and 5 boxes of plastics to buy from GW, then I have everything I want from GW. I\'ll be doing that very shortly indeed! Unfortunately, Rackham and others are still more expensive than GW in South Africa.

Give \'em time..

No one had heard of them a couple of years ago...so I guess they are making pretty good progress.
