GW store unhelpful/rude? service

OK so this will be a tired thread maybe?

I kinda left for this whole desert war thing.. came home found out the wife moved some stuff around and lost a few of my prized models I was saving for later... Today I called the GW gang thinking no problem I\'ll just get the sprues I need to fix the models and viola... so I called GW and asked for the bottom sprue for 2 seperate land speeders as I already have the top 2 sprues. No dice says the fellow on the phone its one sprue for everything now and its $30.00 each. I said to him I was looking at the sprues and it is 2 seperate sprues. No budging ... So I said forget it and moved on $60.00 plus shipping is too steep for me to fix 2 land speeders that I can get from a local store without the $8.00 shipping. I went to the local store and bought a brand new one opened it up and just like I thought, its 2 seperate sprues!!!! What gives,.. go away for a year and their service goes right down the crapper??? Not only are they over priced but now there service sucks too?? This is not my first rude run in with these guys since returning home, I called them for something else only to discover it doesn\'t exist anymore. Is it just me or are they getting really bad.


When did the hours of operation change they used to be open later for mail order?? called at like 7:00 p.m. and they were closed?

Well this is the 247th anti-GW thread but I totally believe it. AFAIK they DO sell sprues on their web shop, albeit you won\'t be paying half the box price for half the set, more like 60%... and no guarantee they have Land Speeders. The phone guy probably should have said \"we don\'t sell those sprues separately\", not \"it\'s one sprue\", but I guess he got you to go and buy a set... and that\'s all that counts at GW now - tomorrow\'s sale, not next year\'s sales via gaining the trust or respect of gamers.

Haha, Isnt the shipping ridiculous alone? I live about 60 miles from where they ship, in the US and they charge about 8 bucks, flat, for shipping. I\'m like you. Theres no way im going to spend that much for shipping for a bit or sprue. Id rather sculpt it... Call me cheap. :bouncy:

Also, When i went to one of their stores, the employees are so annoying. When i go somewhere, I like to have room to look and not have some guy breathing down my neck trying to sell me crap. I just walked out.

don\'t call gw to get the parts, instead use the online store instead, so you can get the parts without having to deal with someone. unless you are missing something like a sprue or piece.

which has happened to me with missing a whole sprue in which they sent me that sprue and the other for the ripper swarm that i was missing,.

No parts sprues listed for the land speeder.. big bummer. There is always E-bay LOL. Yes the postage was a joke got a box from them cost $8.00 and the postage said $4.00 LOL.. damn expensive box I guess.

Sorry a done to death thread re-appears but I had to vent .

Now I guess you guys knw why it is so easy to bash GW. The people who did it in the past weren\'t whining. They were warning you.:cool:

As a red shirt I apolagize if you got rude service. But as side note the landspeeder is all one sprue when packed they brake it in half to fit a smaller box and minamize the chance of missing parts.
Same as the new commander and most of the plastic units. Again sorry for any rude service you may have gotten. Also if you have a store close to you you can now get your bitz throu them and save your self shipping.:)

It also seems country tied. A lot of the complaints I see here are based on the States GW. In my experience the service here in The Netherlands is really good...

Yeah...nothing wrong with venting, but it is also good to see an employee stand up, take a bit of responsibility and pride and try to help.

a valid gripe... for once.

Too often i read this type of gripe (a GW bash that is) which is of little substance and come off as whinning. SO... it\'s nice to hear a valid gripe for once, at what was obviously frustrating situation.

As always, i take the stance that it\'s easy to bash GW because they do more than any other company, and therefor open themselves up to more possibilities to fail. Years have passed and companies have come and gone from our fair community... and yet GW remains. I will grant that the latest batch of competitors is really stepping up to bat with quality models and interesting rule mechanics, however, none of them can boast the depth or richness that GW boasts. It\'s like saying that you prefered the CFL (Canadian Football League) to the NFL because the officials did a better job. Sure the NFL officials are flawed but they are also under the closest scruitiny... just like GW. So, while i simpathize with Grey Mouser and would be frustrated in his position... let us not forget what a bleak hobby it would have been and would be now if it weren\'t for GW.

Too bad with the Landspeeder, and unfortunately, yes, it is \"one\" sprue... but, hey,
for eight bucks you can get a whole Landspeeder via eBay... well, 8-15 bucks anyway... ;)

I have never had bad service with GW!
and don\'t think i ever will, they are great guys :)

The GW guys are always nice, and I never had a problem with them.

I has happened to me that sprues are missing from the boxes, I just go down to the store and get the missing sprue/bits for free. Sometimes the GW staff gives me more bits than those who were missing;)

i have to say in their defense, the uk gw staff are pretty good. only had a couple of mistakes and they sent out the replacements free 1st class delivery (and once it turned out that i had made the mistake - not that i admitted it!!). they shop guys are always helpful and chatty too. mind you they go really weird if you even mention another brand. lol - gotta laugh eh. or maybe not. big brother\'s watching

the same here, plus many times they give me free paints and other things when i help them speed painting minis
