GW superglue

I just have to know: Does anyone actually buy the stuff? I was in a GW today buying paint when I noticed it, and the price. $8. For superglue. I never really looked before because I get mine for a buck at the local hobby shop, and it\'s even in a bigger container then the GW brand.

It just seems sort of crazy.

I tend to steer clear of the really cheap stuff as it has a nasty tendency to crystalise and form a weak bond. On the other hand I won\'t use GW glue as I hate the stupid brush thing that comes incorporated into the lid. That and the price.

I\'d recommend Zap Ca+ as it\'s relatively cheap but pretty strong and you get tons of the stuff.

only ever used GW when I worked there as was freelol
My problem is whatever brand I buy I only get a week or so out of it before the top seals itself:mad: or the contents become to thick to make it out of the tub.
So I now buy small tubes

No, the kind I use lasts for a few months, and I literally mean lasts no drying out, hardening or thick gel forming.

Ever build - industrial grade superglue £2.20 for 20gm from the local DIY store.

I use loctite and it seems to last forever. Plus, the cap has a puncture device to keep it from clogging. It does get buildup though, and when that happens I just usually clean it with an exacto-knife. I can\'t imagine putting it on with a brush though... That seems wildly inefficient.

The loctite bonds great, yet if you leave it in simple green for a while it can come loose, which is nice when you need to remove parts to strip paint.

I like the GW glue. It doesn\'t dry as brittle as the other stuff I can get locally. The other advantage is that while it might cost $8, it\'s not much more than the alternatives, and the money goes to support my FLGS.

Sadly GW\'s superglue has been formulated to protect little Timmy\'s from glueing themselves together. (Or more likely to prevent Mothers of little Timmy\'s from sueing GW.)
As a result it\'s practically useless as well as being dramatically overpriced.
I use Loctite in a bottle with a brush, give far more control and doesn\'t clog up because I put the lid straight back on. The bottle I\'m currently using has lasted me around 4 months now.

when you aren\'t using it store it in the fridge, it will last longer

ditto what DR said, the GW stuff is diluted because of the kids

Everbuild Mitre Mate, for about £7 you get 50g of glue and a spray can of actuator, the glue on its own is about a fiver

In the fridge huh? Never would have thought of that. Wouldn\'t be the weirdest thing I have in there either (I regularly store LI batteries in there too).

But I didn\'t know GW brand was diluted too! So it\'s like 1/2 the glue at 4x the price. Weak. I noticed they re-formulated their \"sand\" too. Now it looks like it\'s just a mix of 60% fine ballast, 30% medium ballast, and 10% coarse. I didn\'t even see any natural stones in the ones I looked in... Their old stuff was actually kind of nice if you couldn\'t get a good mix at a beach, or it was winter.

I\'ve found GWs fine for plastic but weak on metal (now explained above, cheers DR) but main issue was the brush being too big. Zap-A-Gap medium & a cocktail stick applicator is my current preference. Although the Loctite gel has its uses. B.

super glue isn\'t meant for plastic, after time the joints will become brittle, and should you drop the mini it will \"explode\"
For some reason it doesn\'t adhere to plastic in the same way it does to metal or flesh
use plastic glue, it \"welds\" the two surfaces together

@AegisD: yep, that\'s how its stored after they make it

GW superglue has a brush? I guess the stuff in NA is different maybe?

Anyway I\'ve never seen much difference between the brands of superglue available here. They are all plenty strong, they are all too expensive, and they all seal up before you finish the bottle. So I just buy whatever brand from wherever I happen to be when I remember that I\'m out of glue.

Side note: I actually completely tapped a bottle of Citadel superglue recently. After building massive amounts of scenery and other big projects I completely drained a bottle before it could get clogged. I think this might be the first time I\'ve ever drained a bottle of superglue (any brand) since I started the hobby in 1998.
