Is it a loss or just a change in cash flow, an anomally, or just creative accounting. Don\'t ask me... my finances would be better planned by a monkeylol
But, what I can espouse, is that maybe they were flying while the LOTR movies were fresh and now are bound to dip a bit. They musta made gobs off those pics, wow. I wonder if they will eventually dump that line or make it special order like most non-core games?

I think for that you will have to wait and see, I know several people on the US side that are really hacked off with them and their attitude compared to the situation over here in the UK. I also heard back in March that GW US only had a few years to start showing profit otherwise big brother was going to take drastic steps.
As for LOTR well I think you will find that that is a different kettle of fish again that has surpassed all their expectations and with Battle of Five Armies in 10mm scale coming out next year-ish then I can\'t see that sliding for a while plus the comunity it has must be going on as big as WHFB so I guess at it going for at least another year or two yet.

funny that the hopefuls will always try and create a disturbance...I think you\'ll find that the US GW market is the fastest growing of the world, and those figures are wrong... I do believe that it should read 27.7 percent or thereabouts.
the idea that GW would stop doing business in the states if the sales figures there would not be satisfactory is a bit strange, since they are building/built their second main factory and mould warehouse there(in case something happens to the Lenton,Uk one, and shipment is cheaper for the US business), plus the fact the USA makes more profit than Europe and Asia....
no peeps, GW is here to stay, and all you need to do to see sales figures rise(even further) in the USA, is to wait for the release of 40k 4, and the new space marines(that release date has been bumped especially on the request of the Us market afterall)
the battle of 5 armies thing is a bit strange, since even as of writing this, they\'re not sure if it\'s going to be a main studio release or a fanatic one...
LOTR is a core game for the next 3 years or so, part of the deal wth New Line I believe...

Hey Tammy is that hopeful refering to me?
I have a garage full of GW/Citadel from the early eighties to the present so seeing them go would be a shame regardless of what others think and not something I would like to see.
I know the US market is huge after all you only need to look at the size of the place but I know a lot of people over there and they order mainly from the UK mail oarder because they get a warmer feeling that they do from US mail order.

Over the past 10 years, I have watched and listened to the nay sayers and critics. I find it amusing that many who bad mouth GW for it\'s business practices still find a reason to buy the product (even if it is overpriced).
I doubt that any of the gaming community laymen can truly understand the business decisions since they don\'t have access to the information upon which the decisions were made. Given that our economy is very unforgiving, and does not suffer fools gladly, you must credit GW for doing some things right.
I am not here to applaude GW (since I don\'t always agree with their business decisions, nor do I always agree with their game design or artistic decisions). Neither am I here to tear them down. I hope they continue to evolve and grow, because if they fail, the GW nitpickers will turn on Reaper or Rackham.

First, I\'d like to say that even if those figures were straight out of the GW financial statement, do you really believe that financial statements disclose the whole truth? Have yoiu ever heard of ENRON, WorldCom, or Adelphis ???

I find that North Americans are way more reactionary in regards to price changes. I have never heard complaints from Euro GW fans about price changes, yet during the last batch of changes, I saw multiple posts for people selling off their armies due to price increases. It makes no sense.
I guess I can agree with not purchasing the product if you don\'t like the business decisions. Still I am not going to feel sorry for the company, nor the people who can\'t afford to buy its product. Until I can\'t warrant spending money on this hobby, I will keep at it.
BTW, I have a theory for making miniatures a cost effective hobby. What is the hourly cost per mini? My last mini, I took 20+ hours to finish, it was a $16 CDN mini, plus a few bucks for paints and GS etc. So I could say I paid $1/hour to do something I enjoy. Considering the cost of a movie, or dinner, or paintball, or many other hobbies, that is pretty damned cheap.
Even on rank and file, say I took 3 hours per, on a cheaper r&f mini I may be at $4 an hour, which is still a good price IMO. Then I have the mini to play with, forever, for free.
