GW users- Catachan Green?

I\'m currently collecting Space Marines, and i\'m trying to get a \"Military\" theme. So far, Catachan green has served this purpose. But right now i\'m looking for either a good shading colour (Dark Angels?) or a good base higlight (goblin green?) I\'m starting a tac. squad so i\'m trying to do a lot in a short time (no mixing fo me, thanks!) so any good ideas?

Bear in mind that the green goes with a kommando khaki/bleached bone, so they have to look good.

OR, should i start with different colours?

Help. (confused) ???

Wouldn\'t you know it: the tints-and-tones guide I printed from some painting site a while back doesn\'t actually have Catachan Green on it. It does have a Camo Green listed, which sounds like it might be similar... suggests \"Add black\" for the tone and \"Add white\" for the tint, thus defeating your \"no mixing\" request.

\'Fraid I\'m not much help, then... sorry. :(

\'s okay. I tried Camo: it\'s not pretty.

I may as well start again. I have a really good idea for a chapter.

But what do i do with my already-painted, quite expensive Dreadnought, Predator, and captain?

damn.

Don\'t know where you are, but my understanding is that Dettol is the UK equivalent of Pine Sol... and either of those, or Simple Green, should be perfectly safe to use on plastics.

If you\'re doing an army.. Make the highlight and shading colour in premixed bottles. Looks better then to try using colours with wrong hue.. and won\'t take much time either.

dark angels is darker.. if put on black DA green is almost itselfe black.. only problem with DA green and catachan green is that DA green is a different tone..... can be used as a darkener tho.. should work fine

Vallejo Smoke. A transparent colour which works wonderfully as a shade for Green\'s. Thinned and washed in to the deeper sections will work quite effectivly.

Looks good on metals and browns as well.

@ Dragonsreach Are you refering to the Model color or game color, or are they the same? I have the GC Vallejo Smoke, but have never seen the MC Vallejo smoke. :D

@Drake Farstrider: Sorry it\'s the Model Colour Smoke.
As far as I know there isn\'t a Game colour Smoke.

Me neither. I only have GW paints. Besides, the Dark Angels green is fine for me (hopefully) thanks.

Basically Vallejo Model colour is a 220 colour range for all types of models , Historical right the way through to Fantasy.
Vallejo Game colour is a 99% match for the GW colours.

Both are equally as good as each other and fully intermixable. Model colours have the edge (for me at least ) in that they also have additional items like Matte medium & Glaze medium.

Some peope love them and some just can\'t seem to get away with them.
They are an aquired Taste, especially if you lick your brushes. :) Personally I find them better value for money as I tend to use less out of a Vallejo bottle than out of a GW paint pot and the bottles contain more paint.

I just bought my first couple bottles of Vallejo Model Colour and am so far satisfied after a little experimentation...might have to change lines :innocent:

Vallejo rocks and the Smoke is addictive it works in so many ways.
Simple green works best on plastics I visit my bottle often
