This is the first piece I\'ve done for myself since the samurai gnoll, a year ago. It\'s been my recreation piece, working on it between other projects, so I enjoyed every bit of it. I finally have something to put in my showcase :D

great job.
the golds look really good as does the ax.
my fav part of this mini is the banner.
the skin color and the finger nails look dead on.
agree with Shawn...a few more highlights would really make this mini.

P.S. the base looks cool...but is the left foot floating in open air??

Looks fine from here, would agree that you need some a bit more difference from the darkest to the lightest areas on the different parts. Don\'t think it\'s difficult to achieve though - a wash for shading and one or two more highlight-colors, should take you there.
The base is really good - how did you make that - or is it in the wip, and I just missed it? Voted

Overall the mini is a bit more contrasty irl, the blues especially, but I would say the same thing if it wasn\'t mine..
Base is styrofoam, cork, sand and pebbles. Was fun to make and paint, it appeared on the wip in it\'s primed state. It\'s less grey-brown and had some washes the camera failed to see.
He\'s a bit floating I must say, resting on it\'s talons, miscalculated the way the back part would fit, the dragon head was in the air, so I had to move him and replace him and couldn\'t get it right. :(
Irl it doesn\'t show as much ;)

I know it\'s not awesome, but I wish to know why nothing I do can get above 6.1.. when I see loads of tricolor-unlighted mini and black SM with the white line highlighting that border on 7... maybe a bit frustrating...
Maybe I just don\'t have enough friends, Anyone wants to be my friend, in the purpose of boosting each other scores ?

Sore-loser apolegitic rants aside, I really wish to have more feedback and votes, please.

Yes, I understand the frustrations all too well. Don\'t worry about the score, just the comments you get....

The base is absolutely fantastic.

I think, if anything, the contrast area of the face should be emphasized...its hard to see a real focus on the mini!

i honestly think its the green background and closeness of the photo in some aspects. also i would say its the lighting as well. try to photograph with the light at a 75 degree angle and about 8 inches away in total darkness. this should give you the lighting you need. hope it works out better for you. :)

Ok so my thoghts are it seems somewhat bland overall. I think Shawn had it right in that it needs better highlights and shading, that would make it stand out a much more.

Also, it may be that the photo quaility is hurting you. hence the bland appearance.

I think the painting is pretty good, but it is hard to tell from the pictures.

Also, more green would help the beard anf mohawk stand out more. Say if the dragon was green or his jerkin or his banner. I think those would help a lot.

Still, I think it is a nice looking figure and better pictures would help get into the 7s.

I think maybe a bit more definition in the colors as its hard to make out some details. Also a little bit more work on the base as it looks a little plain. Voted.

Well, thanks guy, didn\'t prevent him from falling further to 5.8, which is plain ridiculous imo.

Green is easily overdone for this model, but I reckon green and orange would have given a better result.
This behing said it\'s true there are better pictures around, I lack good lighting so I have to enhance brightness, then contrast with photoshop, which is not as convincing as the real thing. Still I don\'t think behing rated under 6 makes sense at all.
Oh well, I just have to stop weeping for about 50 hours of wasted time :(

Ps: My mom thinks it\'s great btw :p
