orange-stuff?

Very cool.

Halloween is my favorite holiday, it also happens to be my mothers birthday. We always celebrated it with her, let the kids go trick or treating, and pass out goodies to the kids that stop by.

Later, we grab our bats and smash pumpkins, Mom is particularly adept at this, as well as toilet pappering all our sworn enemies homes.

Ah, nothing like family.

Turnips make good dis-embodied heads... just add some black ribbon and a tea light candle and you\'re good to go;

Some pumpkins for ya;

A note on the one with the huge mouth... i took the big piece i cut out of that one and releaf carved a tounge for him then took all the guts i scooped out of him and put them on his tounge and on the ground in front of him, added a few empty beer cans (weighed down with sand so they don\'t blow away) and you\'ve got a drunk pumpkin who literally puked his guts out!lol
Normally do 10-15 pumpkins a year and we\'ve got some \"ghosts\" made out of white trash bags and fishing line blowing around in the tree out front. Other than those the house is left plain, but we like to leave a big plastic trash can in front of the house right by the door and after we hand the (old enough to take it) kids their candy give the signal cough and then a werewolf jumps out of the plastic trash can and candy goes flying!lol

i\'m not quite sure what to go as this halloween.

i\'m toying with the idea of \"the good fairy\" but I\'m just not sure yet.

we will be sure to take pictures like last year! our halloweens are more about the family than anything. hopefully we can get mom to dress up this year though (ohhh shes going to kill me when she sees this :D)

Scully.
Nah! Becca\'s better looking.

The change in Halloween has become extremely noticable due to the adoption of this American custom in the UK. Don\'t mind the younger kids in our street \"Trick or Treating\". But it\'s turning in to a \"Demanding with Menaces\" issue with teenagers terrorising some areas.

@Itchy: Some prime stuff you\'ve done there! You do all the designs yourself, or are there some Jack Templates out there to buy?

@Becca: May I quote Wednesday Addams: \"I\'m going as a psycho killer. They look just like everyone else.\"
...what a cute psycho killer, though :D

:(:(

Unfortunatly down in OZ ( well atleast in my part of OZ ) we dont celebrate halloween, an awesome occasion missed out by Australians

A question, does anyone kno why in some countries they dont celebrate it?

Well some countries don\'t know what it is. I know it sounds smug, but here in Korea is an example. Maybe not in seoul, but in some of the other cities.There are a lot of things in western culture they just don\'t know about.

I wish I had a dollar everytime some Korean called it \"Halloween Day\".
Then I someone would explain that its not the day but the night that is part of the holiday.then explain why Halloween came about.Then they either call us liars or look at us like we are bugs.

The best one was last year.The Wal Mart here had Halloween decorations and costumes.All of the foreigners were excited because we were having a costume party. On October 30th I went into the store at noon to pick up some decorations. The worker told me in English they put them away because the holiday was over.:eek:

lollol

People always argue that a holiday ends in the middle of the day, most of the time i am not awake by then to celebrate it lol

Its a yank thing. We dont celebrate it cause our kids would come back with a bag fully of stubbies and smokes. Rather have a Barby meself mate. Nice work on the pumpkin thingies.

If I can just qualify Ebons comment there....
No one knows about Halloween in Korea unless they go to or work in an english hagwon (small private language school)
For example we will all be dressing up and turning all the rooms into I dont know what yet, but you can rest assured there will be witches ghosties pumkins and spiders galore.
There may well even be face paint shudders* We have the day \"off\" tommorrow to go in and prepare it all. It will take all day and lots of glue and black paper. However it seems I have scored the Lego room and thats got to be good :)

Im not sure however if they know about it in the understanding-why-its-done-what-its-all-about-and -its historical-context way or know about it in the Its-on-friday-its-scary-and-everyone-gets -lots-of-candy way.

at my highschool, About this time every year (a week or so before halloween) they school would send out a letter and explain all about what halloween is and why you shouldnt celebrate it. and that it was \"demonic\" but if you wanted to dress up and go get candy...that was fine :rolleyes:

i loved the school...but not so much their ideals. :D

To be quite honest I doubt most Americans know the origins of Halloween. Most probably don\'t even know that it\'s the evening before a Christain holliday (hence all hallow\'s eve or halloween)

I swear, the next yard ape that swings on my front gate, screeching, \"Tick or treat\", is gonna get some of my special nougat. :innocent: Kids these days are more scary than the costumes they don.
