Happy monk aka 52card pickup WIP

just started working on this little fellow from White Rabbit minatures. He is called the happy monk but I am changing out the limb on his shoulders to a stream of playing cards. The cards are all individually cut and painted in a matching 54mm scale. This was something that was harder than I thought it would be. He is still early in the works so if you can see anything in the picture I need to tweak just let me know.

Nice idea :good:

And looks well put into practice to me. Slight bright spot on his belly to the right of his belly button. Hair in paint, casting flaw, weird photography thing?

Nice colour choices too, how far off completion is he?

Cheers, B.

Thanks for the reply. He is about 50%. I think the bright spot is the shine from the Vallejo acrylics. I still have ton's of blending to do.

Thanks guys glad you like him, I painted on him some more last night. The original is spectacular but his pose was perfect for this and the cards are such opposite of what a monk would be doing with his time. I couldn't resist making the two worlds collide. Hopefully I can get another pic up tonight.

Thanks again I appreciate the feedback.

not a mini in my taste, unless you put a big axe in one of his hands lol, but the painting looks really really promising so far

Did some more painting on this fella and constructed and painted the base. I added a little running water just to make it more fun. The little bamboo looking things are just tacked in place for an idea. Hopefully I can get him done this weekend and post him in my gallery. I am wondering if the base needs some more color or keep it muted so he "pops" out from the base more. Hmm, I'll have to play with it some more.

Thanks for the replies and having a look at him.
