HARBINGER 17 HAS SHIPPED!

Yes folks! It’s that time again and issue 17 of your favourite miniature-related magazine has just left Harbinger HQ bound for destinations the world over!

This month, along with all the normal goodness you’d expect, Premiere subscribers will also get their lucky little hands on the Harbinger of the Moon and next month (fingers tightly crossed) the new subscriber-only mini, the Harbinger of Pain should be shipping so it’s gonna be a good couple of months for lead-addicts!

Here’s a list of what to expect from issue 17…

CONFRONTATION, THE ALCHEMISTS OF DIRZ – Graham Clarke investigates Rackham’s twisted science-psychos!

WARGODS, BUILDING CROCODILIOPOLIS – Herb and Nannette Gundt (the talent behind the awesome Olympus scenery that Croc were showcasing at Gencon ’03) create a Sebeki village. Can you?

VIRIDIA, ECO WARRIORS – Phil Walling continues his study of the Void 1.1 universe. This month it’s the turn of the dino-loving Viridians.

REZOLUTION, QUICK START RULES – The minds behind this year’s hottest new game give you the quick start rules. Be the first. Be the best. Be all you can be…

THE CURSED IDOL OF SETHAQUA – Scott Pyle lays out a Chaos In Cairo scenario with a difference. Can either side discover the host body of a malevolent spirit before disaster (which has already struck) strikes some more?

THE TRIAL OF ANPU – Robin Armstrong present a Wargods scenario in which one side must attempt to rescue Anpu from the clutches of Mar’Rip and his Sebeki hench-crocs.

RIOT – The 5th scenario in the Guxiss online campaign for Void 1.1. Trouble is beginning to boil over onto the streets…

THE DOOMSDAY DEVICE – Andy Smilie brings you a Heroclix scenario of cataclysmic proportions – rescue the doomsday device before the villains put it to good (read: bad) use.

MASTERCLASS PAINTING, FLESH ON A LARGE SCALE – Steve Eserin shows us how to work flesh tones and tattoos onto large scale figures. It ain’t 28mm guys…

SPOTLIGHT ON, STARSHIP TROOPERS – A closer look at Mongoose Games’ upcoming license-dream. Would you like to hear more?

STEP BY STEP, DARKNESS WARRIOR OF THE AMIRS – Scott Symonds gives us a step by step guide to painting what must be one of MSB Toy’s best releases yet.

MASTERCLASS TERRAIN – More from Andy Smilie, this time how to create water towers and doomsday devices – two important artefacts for any game of Heroclix.

MASTERCLASS TERRAIN – Chris Abbey shows us how he made the awesome scenery for the Chaos in Cairo scenario. With a little elbow grease and the right instructions you could too!

Plus all the usual news, reviews, previews and the world famous showcase!!!!

Cheers

hmm...

Well, I let my subscription lapse, since I noticed my Local Gaming Store was getting the mag.

I figured I could support them a bit as well, but seeing how they don\'t even have Issue 16 yet, maybe I should change my mind...;

Looks like another great issue Jamie!

I would LIKE to subscribe...

But to do it you apparently need a credit card and my application for one is still pending.

Is there any other way of getting one?

marineboy, http://www.harbingermagazine.com

Brian, where are you? In the UK Harbinger is available in most WHSmiths and independant hobby stores. If you\'re in the US or Canada ANY hobby retailer can order it from ANY distributor so get on your local shopkeep\'s case!

I AM on their case! I was on the poor guy\'s case for three months!

Some kind of crap was going on with his distributor and he didin\'t get issues 14-15 out until sometime AFTER 16 came out! And I\'ll have to check but knowing his luck, I\'m not betting he\'s gotten #16 yet. :flame:

I don\'t need to be told to get one someone\'s case, though I may need to be told to stop.

Brian, I know that problem. Why I just got 14 recently... he said that it takes so long because Harbinger is first shipped to America and then to Germany or something like this.... not entirely sure.

Well to quote South Park...

DUDE! That is some seriously \"BLEEP\" UP \"BLEEP\"!???
That can\'t be right, If Harbinger was printed in the US then it\'d make a little more sense.
But if it\'s printed in England, why would it be shipped to America, then Germany?

@ Harbinger

They just got issues 14 and 15 in my FLGS the other day. I bought 14, and it rocks, and will be purchasing 15 this week. If we are getting our issues this late does that mean we can\'t send in the coupon for the mini? I want to subscribe, but the US price is £55, which is like a gazillion dollars in US money (well, over a hundred, anyway). I think the price is excellent considering you get the minis, but my wife pays the bills and she\'d break my neck if she saw a charge for that much for a miniatures mag. So I\'m stuck counting on my LGS, which is kinda like counting on your children taking care of you in your old age. They mean well, but you shouldn\'t stake your life on it.

...oops...

Distribution is the weak link in this industry - unfortunately it also has a stranglehold that no one can break.
The distributors want manufacturers (and magazine publishers) to do their work for them and create the customer pull through that will sell the product. Without teaching anyone to suck eggs; the only way to get product into stores is for customers to continuously hassle the retailers and for the retailers to continuously hassle the distributors. They have to be told a million times before they take notice - we\'ve even asked about selling the Harbinger miniatures through distribution with the magazines so that local stores can supply them to their customers and set up some sort of standing order system.

No dice, they don\'t want to know.

If your retailer continues to get poor service from his distributor please ask him to drop Mark an email on

editor@harbingermagazine.com

and he\'ll personally find out where they can get the magazine from in a more timely and reliable manner.

They\'re probably ordering from Impressions (the US consolidator). If so have them email us direct and we\'ll source a quicker way of getting the magazine to them either direct from us or through UK distribution which should only take a couple of days.

All the best

Stiil Haven\'t answered my question about the mini. Since I only got the December issue the other day, is the coupon still good?

Mmmm, the smelly, inky goodness arrived this morning. Like the hag mini!

There\'s rather a good painting article in it too.....:D

Deep breath..... Oh I love the smell of the mag! He He

The flesh painting article is interesting. The progressive stage by stage really shows how the washing and blending techniques makes the mini come together.
