It keeps getting better....

I have just received number 5 and there is a huge improvement IMO. It\'s not perfect yet, but my days of subscribing to WD just because it is the only magazine that supports my hobby are numbered..Muhahahaha...:D

Got to agree - I have been buying WD for over 13 years and used to count down the days waiting for it to be issued (am I really a coffin dodger?). Not anymore- as the production values have increased my interest in GW\'s lines has dwindled!

Thankfully Harbinger is here and despite it\'s faults - which have already been noted by others - it is still a damn good read and showcases a lot of different minis to good effect.

I just wish I could read French then I could subscribe to Ravage as well!

That would be nice...

Unfortunately, four plus years of compulsory state education left me with the ability to say. \'bonjour\' and listening to dodgy records in the 70\'s empowered me with the phrase, \'j\'taime\'. I don\'t think I am going to be enjoying Ravage anytime soon:D

Calling any entrepreneurs

My wife used to buy a German craft magazine called Burda which came with an English translation insert for most of the content (not the adverts thankfully).
Wouldn\'t it be nice if some enterprising person did the same for Ravage - I\'d pay them a premium for the service.

any takers

(before anyone tells me I know that Burda is now available in English)

Oh yes....

I received my issue 5 the other day as a subscriber and the figure was included.
(A very good figure it is too). I think they said, at some point, that there were issues which would prevent their shipping this mini with issue 4.
Good news is, that they are planning to issue more limited minis than they planned, but you will have to wait until you receive your copy of issue 5 to get the facts straight from the horse\'s mouth.:D

Eeeew! It stinks!

To take on the point of criticism and those who establish themselves in the role of being a critic, something that Mark (joint big-wig of Harbinger) once said to me has become glaringly apparent...

He said to me that the biggest problem within this industry is that there\'s a sector/group/clique among us that always thinks it knows better :) The number of staff is a limiting factor at Harbinger just now, and the learning curve is a bind, but the more fluent they become at editing and publishing, the better their output will be. It\'s the old empirical thing - you have to learn by experience :p

As things stand, advertisers are vital and will form a large part of the publication. When it is more financially viable you will see more variety...that\'s just basic economics. What you do have at Harbinger is a great energy and a huge amount of knowledge (Mark\'s office/spareroom is a sight to behold, books all over the walls and miniatures falling out of every nook and cranny :)). If some people directed their pointed dislikes to the company and waited a little while, they will see the results - I\'m sure of that.

Without being seen as nepotistic (some may know what I mean) I think that certain people should take a look at themselves and water down their inflated senses of self-importance...the guys at Harbinger have put their sterling where their mouths are, and it has been a LOT of sterling up till now. Give them some f***ing credit :)

Nice point Phil...

I despair slightly when I see comments and criticisms directed at tiny companies such as Harbinger, and others who are doing their best, that might more appropriately be directed at organisations such as Microsoft or Games Workshop.
The choice is simple, we can buy the products from these small companies, or not. We can be supportive of them, or not. It\'s our choice.
If they get \'talked out of business\' then, it will also, ultimately, be our responsibility. I don\'t want to live in a world where WD is the only choice so I will be keeping any minor criticisms I might have to myself:D

Yeah..

you know.. I\'m really please with Harbinger.. for a start-up they are kicking booty in their first year..

Their coverage keeps getting better and better.. I was so tickled to see a really nice historical article this month, as well as some fluff.

I also like the ads because it turns me onto companies that I might not have been aware of prior, and gives me a chance to see their models.

I think if the staff at Harbinger didn\'t care about us or the hobby, some of the negative criticism would be warrented, but as was said they are out there and doing it, not just talking about it. And they care about the individual.. as I said earlier, I had a problem with shipment of one issue, and they personally took care of it and gave me an answer within a few hours of my asking... that is simply great.

K.. I just wanted to bend my bow to the defense here ;)
