Harbinger, ceasing production...
got an email this morning from Mark the editor....
they are trying to keep it alive, don\'t know if there is anything \'we\' as a community can do......
A sad day indeed....

Hey, Mark if you read this can I have any minis you got left laying around the office.....you can keep any subscription refund :D (only joking, laughter is the best medicine)

This is really sad. How can greedy motherf*ckers like GW keep going while guys like Harbinger are ignored? This is not a bash, its a rant. No need to drink. I really believe in the product and regret not being able to get all of the back issues. My wife and I ran into some financial problems. I will try to get them now, and hopefully the miniatures too.

Harbinger has serious distribution issues and there were far too many people that didn\'t even know it existed. GW is VERY good at distribution and marketing. AS I said in another thread I never came across the magazine in a hobby store on this side of the pond, not a good thing, at least if they were counting on North American sales. It was a good resource, but honestly they needed a dual publication agrrement, so they could print and distribute fro the North American market from over here and keep costs to them and the subscribers down. I had a sub for the first year, but the costs just got too high for me to continue. Sad to see it go for sure.:~(

I think that is the difference. I still have my punker mentality from when I was a kid. If someone tried to make a difference, I would support them. I even will do things to help them succeed. Evden if I had to pay a little extra for the magazine subscription. I mean, I was getting miniatures out it too.:D But yeah. I tried to support it as best I could.

I wish they could have sorted out the problems too but after the way they have treated me about various things over the past two years I can honestly say I won\'t be shedding a tear. The whole attitude toward the customer needed a serious shake up and the amount of people I know and have read about cancelling their subscriptions this was inevitable.

Although I have to agree that weather or not I was able to get many issues, it still was an excellent source and a very good showcase for our hobby. I keep hearing of small companies related to our hobby (fig companies, mags, terrain) going under, and I\'m starting to (begrudgingly) understand the high prices over at GW.

Unfortunately they may end up on the R.I.P. list themselves soon enough. Video games have captured the minds of the young, so will we even be able to buy miniatures twenty years down the road?

And if not, I\'m gonna be VERY rich when ALL of mine become collector\'s items. ;)

A sad demise, but several lessons learned hopefully?

I loved Harbinger, and squirrelled away 20 of their first edition, sad bugger that I am. :D

It was slightly amateurish however, a comment I would never have made previously, and if anyone is feeling withdrawal symptoms, I can thoroughly recommend the Rackham magazine. Expensive? Yes! Worth it? Yes!

Also buying all the Euro-Militare \'Portfolios\' would provide some stunning eye-candy/toilet perusal :D

I am getting bored of my Rackham catalogue and my wife has started using it a as loo-roll....
