Harbinger lives!!!

Hi guys and gals,

I just wanted to let you know that over the course of the next few weeks we will be getting Harbinger back up and running, in a fashion in any case. Initially Harbinger will have to exist as a download PDF magazine. This is due to the crippling cost of fighting my ex partners for control of the magazine and because I intend to refund all subscriptions to the old print version. Please understand that this will take time and the only way to achieve this is by going forward and generating new cash to pay off the old debts. All subscribers will be contacted in the coming weeks with an outline of the options that they will be able to choose.

I also wanted to let you know that along with the re-launch we are also creating what I hope will over the course of the next few years become a painting competition to rival the great Golden Demons. Unlike the Golden Demons though you, the public, will be responsible for selecting the winners. Every week we hope to have a new selection of minis for you to vote on much like the old Showcase. The winners of these weekly heats will go forward to the main competition where they will be eligible to win the main prize of at least $1000, and we will have an additional prize fund of around $1000 in cash as well as tons of minis donated from supporting manufacturers for winners of the various categories. The intention of this competition is to show off the wealth of non GW minis available. Up until now the only option has been the Golden Demons for enthusiasts to really showcase their painting talents, now through Harbinger we will give all of the other minis a chance to shine, and at the end of the day what would you rather win - a fancy sword, or cash? Also, due to the unique way in which we are structuring this competition it gives everyone the opportunity to both excel and win prizes.

We do have one small problem though, all of the names that we have come up with have been pretty lame so far, so we are having a competition to name the competition. Send me your ideas to Editor@harbingermagazine.com under the heading Painting competition name and whoever has the best idea will win a full set of Harbinger figures, including the un-released Harbingers of Fire, Secrets, the Seven Seas, and the Desert Wind.

Thanks for all of your support

Mark

Sounds great, but...

Are you saying the mag will be in a .pdf incarnation that requires a paid subscription?

Hi,

No the PDF will be free to download, you will have the option though of paying $1.00 to get a print quality copy of any article. In this way everyone gets to see the magazine, and those that require a printed version can also do so. Incidentally the $1.00 download will also be split with the authors of the article, again this elevates the money pressures on us at the start and also allows the authors to get paid at a better rate. So if anyone has any ideas for articles - let me know.

Thanks for the quick reply Mark!

I\'ve been a fan of Harbinger for some time, and love the idea of a .pdf version. I will be watching with bated breath...or is that baited breath....

Great News Mark.

I have posted this on The UKCORD website.
More publicity the better I say.

When are you up and running?

Mark, Cool look forward to seeing what you guys do. I like the idea of a PDF and even a $1.00 fee for a better image. The paper products begin to pile up after a while.

Wow, thanks for the words of encouragement, it really helps especially after all of the crap of the last few months. There are still a few minor points to clear up with my ex partners so I am keeping the news restricted to places that they will never know to check. Once everything is 100% sorted both Griffin and Harbinger will be getting new websites, but in the meantime please spread the word that we are back! Xavier there will be a reduced option to print all of the file, the idea is to appeal to as many people as possible, free to those that want to browse, but with the option to have high res print available to those that want it. We will also be looking into the possibility of printing a best of compilation, but as a book and not as a magazine. We also have been hard at work on a couple of gaming products, the first of which will be going to print very soon, I tell you this as I have just had this picture back from the painter and I thought I would share it with you guys.

Obviously the first is a game about Zombies, with players taking on the role of real peoplw 48 hours after the dead rise from their graves. Stay tuned as we have more to come including a very special project featuring dragons!

Thanks again for all the encouragement, I can’t tell you how much it means.
