Harbinger magazine question

I was looking at a subsricption to Harbinger Magazine online. When you go through the process of looking up the subscription for the americas it comes up with 45 pounds for one or 55 pounds for the other. This is 3 pounds more than the cover price but includes shipping to America. Now, the cover price in dollars is $5, but if you convert pounds to dollars at a common exchange rate of 1.8 you end up paying $99 for 12 months of a magazine you could buy at cover price for $60.

The big question: Are the americans here actually paying $100 for a 12 month magazine subscription?

I tried contacting the sales team at harbinger but have recieved no response after a few attempts and several weeks.

Tell her your going to buy 12 white dwarfs and 12 GW minis instead, and never paint them because they are made of gold (is that why they are so expensive?). Tell her she will have alot of time to watch matlock alone, because you\'ll spend your time on the mini, and reading the magazine.

I think when i originally subscribed, the exchange rate wasn\'t as bad, or the price was a bit lower, and it came to about 70-80 dollars US.. this was almost a year ago, now, I think... Mostly, I wanted to subscribe for the free miniatures and to support the hobby.

As a comparison, currently GW is offering a 1 year subscription for $60.00 US and you get a free Tau Fire Warrior or Chaos Sorcerer, both of which are admittedly special edition, but I would be surprised if GW offers this more than once a year, and so far I\'ve gotten ... 5 free miniatures from harbinger, plus a great magazine that covers alot of diverse mini things, whereas White Dwarf is just a big add for GW and really all i look at is the pictures anyway.. <G> Also, it appears that the international subscription is 100.00 USD and you don\'t get the free special edition mini.

On the other hand, the exchange rate is getting pretty steep these days, so I don\'t know if I can afford to renew my subscription this year.. but on the plus side, both of my local game stores have started carrying Harbinger magazine, and I like supporting them, so I may begin buying the magazine separately and hope that I don\'t like the rare subscription-only (so far it\'s only been one) models that Harbinger might offer in the future.. And if I do like it _that_ much, I can always consider subscribing when it is revealed..

Anyway, i think my point is that considering the perks, I don\'t think that the magazine price for a subscription is really that unreasonable... And if I weren\'t poor, mostly jobless, and owing $30,000 in school loans for this english degree o\' mine, I would probably keep subscribing.. ;)
