Has anyone noticed a size difference?

Don\'t do 40k (yet) but how can the rules make the minis \"illegal\"?
According to the Warhammer rule book, if the mini has a non-standard weapon, you just assume it has a standard weapon. I assume the same is true in 40k.

Now, if you had an army of squats....

You think those orks are off, I have orks from Gorkamorka and orks from HeroQuest. Both GW minis, but nothing alike at all!

I\'d like to hear the final word on Space Marine height. Also, what are you comparing them to? There aren\'t any civilian minis in 40K that I know of.

I think they are suppossed to be a half time larger than theimperial citisens.

(Once read that they can crush a mans skull with a back-hand strike!!)

An Imperial Guardsman is just a regular human type of guy who happened to join the army. Aside from the Ogryns I guess. Sisters of Battle and the Inquisitors etc would all be regular size too, I think. Not actually \"civilian\" but should be the same size.

Most mini\'s dont become illegal, usually they can be used in a \"counts as\" sort of fashion. Sometimes it\'s not all that helpful because what they can be used as isnt that useful then the unit gets taken out of the codex next ed. I\'m not sure about a few certain miniatures, like Squats (space dwarves)? When they removed the squats from the line I dont know if they could be used as anything, legally in GW tournaments and stores anyway.

Illegal minis...

Okay technically I could still use them as something else but rules no longer exist for them.

I have a ton of these.

The Lead Belcher Organ gun, for ocrs and goblins being a great example. Orcs and gobs can\'t even use cannons or mortars and the rules for organ guns dissappeared with third edition. Back in fourth edition they added some dumb rule that this unit if you still had one used the rules for the Hellblaster Volley gun, which just didn\'t fit the orc theme at all (though I did destroy my friends Dark Elves with it multiple times). Now that rule is gone and I have a model with 0 usefullness. I guess I could count it as a Stone Thrower?

I have tons of these old units and most of them can\'t be used.

Every once in a while you see a squat Thousand sons army, or as a variant space marine army. However the latest Dwarf range makes that a little difficult as they\'re more than a bit less compatable with the Space Marine range than the older range was. Of course you shouldn\'t let that stop you, and I don\'t see it stopping anyone from here:D

If everything would be in proper scale, then imagine the venicles! The rhino would be at least twice as high as a space marine, and the land raider would be about 3,5 times (i think) taller than a sm. The land raider would be at the size of a baneblade!

I\'ll have a look in my old 40k Compendium (OLD OLD OLD!!!) as regards, the implants and training, but yes, Space marines should TOWER over normal humans.

They start off as regular humans, who are recruited and given a special diet and training even before they receive any implants. Once they receieve the implants, they must receive their training and a substantial amount of treatment and therapy in order for them to accept the implants with rejecting them.

Once they have received all the treatments etc they go into the scouts, and should be at least 7\'.

And, going back to the Primarchs - who were designed from EMBRYOS, they were even taller than dreadnoughts!

Normal guardsmen should vary in size depending on their homeworld and it\'s gravity/atmosphere etc

Compare ye olde Wood Elf Wardancers with the new ones.

And here is a picture of me (about 4 years ago mind so I\'m about a head taller) next to a life sized drawing of a Space Marine.

So yeah, they\'re pretty tall.

The old GW books lists them as being around 7 feet tall with scouts slightly(but not much) shorter then that. Put them in powered armour and its close to 8 feet tall.

Im glad the minis are growing for the Space Marines-although I hate how it makes my old army look like wimps lol.

Another thing iv\'e noticed. The new gobbos are a LOT smaller than the old skool ones!...I preffered the older ones, they had more character too!

The best comparison for relative heights would be to look at the size of the inquisitor 54mm Space Marine - its somethinbg like 72mm to his eyes...!
