Meh this whole debate is just a way to keep people occupied who would otherwise be a danger to themselves and others.

Can you imagine what someone could come up with if they can spend more than a week debating whether a chunk of rock is or isn\'t a planet.

I have a friend who used to study black holes for a living. He wcould bearly cook himself a meal so I don\'t think he would have been to dangerous really.

An internet acquaintance of mine reports that half the scientists in Albuequerque need personal assistants to lieve their day-to-day lives. Some even needing help to tie their shoe-laces. How true that is... *shrug* To many people, the word \'planet\' is just a definition, or category. But it\'s funny how categories have a way of directing science towards meaningful goals.

By the way, Monki, when the hell did you freek? ??? I must\'ve missed it, congrats.

I met plenty of scientists who studied pretty far out stuff when I did my physics studies, and (with one or two exceptions) they were all pretty able people all around. Surprisingly down to earth people! Now, mathematicians... that\'s another story! lol

Probably when I was five and a door fell on my head! (my head went right through!) lol

Actually i have been sick for a couple of weeks and have had far to much time on my hands. Got a little bit of painting done (but it\'s hard to paint through a coughing fit! :cussing: ) but mainly got to hang out here and there has been a couple of interesting discussions of late.

Doesn\'t Pluto qualify for some sort of \"squatters rights\"? If it\'s been a planet in our solar system for over 70 years they can\'t just evict it because of some sizist, white-coated bullies. Has Pluto even been given access to legal advice to fight it\'s corner? It\'s sooooo unfair (in best teenager voice)

I just read that Pluto supporters within the International Astronomy Union claim the decision was carried out through a coup by an anti-Pluto faction. The decision was made the last day of the meeting when only 424 out of some 2700 scientists were still there.

This is better than soap operas! lol

HEY

I studied and have a degree in math. Does that mean I\'m some sort of freak?

(no, I don\'t have a masters or Ph.D...my marks weren\'t high enough to do higher than bachelor education)

Going shooting with Dick Cheney would be better than soap operas!

You can just imagine gangs of little pluto haters have been plotting away at this for years! :D
There must be loads of bitching in the scientist community!

Don\'t worry! :) I\'ve also studied math since you need a lot of that in physics studies (how else would I have found out what a bunch of loonies the mathematicians really are?? It\'s not like they ever leave their offices and go out in the real world among people! lol). I was merely talking about the Ph.D students and the proffessors! :D

I think it\'s hilarious that a bunch of scientists have nothing better to do than kick pluto out of the \"planet List\".
What the hell do these people get paid for exactly???
What next? \"Well mars keeps killing our robots, lets start a vendetta on mars!\"?
Eggheads indeed...Go figure

I can just imagine them building a Death Star just to blast the other planets to smithereens! \"We will be the biggest and best planet in our solar system, one down 7 to go!\"

How on earth (sorry) can anyone hate a planet that doesn\'t even have any inhabitants? What could it possibly have done to turn people against it? I reckon its all a misunderstanding and that these anti-plutonian scientists thought they were actually voting to get rid of the Disneydog. After all his cartoons are pretty rubbish, there\'s only so many ways you can fail to catch those chipmunks.

My first thought was: How does this benefit us at all on Earth. \"Whew...Now that we resolved that Pluto problem no one will ever go hungry again.\"

But there is actually very little that we do which is for the benefit of Humanity. Does that mean we should only do good and worthy things. These people probably spend have their time on \"Cool Planet or Not\" achieving very little worthwhile but amusing the crap out of themselves!

Now that it\'s officially a dwarf planet does that mean it\'s gonna sit there all surly, quaffing ale, singing about gold and lopping goblin planets\' heads off? ???

What will happen? What wil will happen?!?!?

Well actually Pluto is going to become depressed from this loss of status and crash itself into Neptune which will cause an orbital shift in Neptune and cause it to lose it\'s planetary status. Neptune will then become depressed and crash itself into Uranus which will cause an orbital shift in Uranus and cause it to lose it\'s planetary status. Uranus will then become depressed...

You get the picture.

Soon Earth will no longer be a planet, then we\'re all screwed.

Actually...Maybe the Anti-Pluto Faction are our saviours. H.P.Lovcraft warned us of the Outer Ones.

A great evil came from Pluto in Warzone too.
