Headphones

So all my friends say I\'m cursed when it comes to headphones. I\'ve gone through 19 pairs and 2 ipod speaker sets since 2005. My 19th pair just broke today, Ive had these for the longest- since october. I have another pair, the exact same kind these ones: http://www.skullcandy.com/shop/inkd-p-107.html That I will start using now. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can make these last longer? I listen to my music at a reasonable volume and I never let the wires get tangled so I have no idea what might be causing them to break. Is aprox 6 mo about how long a pair of headphones like these should last? Thanks.

how exactly are they breaking?

I purchased these two years ago, and ive never been so incredibly satisfied with small portable headphones. they hang over your ears so they can be worn for hours and hours (ive worn them for days almost) with incredible tone and great bass range. i cant recommend them enough, i bought 2 pairs and they both work perfectly. only problem is short cord, but they come with an extender. cloth wrapped cable prevents tangling as bad

me wearing them:

I had the same problem and I also happened to find a cure. It\'s called Koss Porta Pro. Lifetime warranty, cheap price (25€) and excellent sound compared to most other headphones in that price range.

The problem with the warranty is that these phones just won\'t break. Believe me, I\'ve tried my best and as I said I\'m a notorious headphone killer.

Sounds like the wires are comming loose inside the actual headphone, so you are probs putting too much strain on the join??

do you wrap you headphones around whatever your using to play music (e.g. ipod) , that can damage to the wires causing one headphone to cut out

treat them like a yard cord, or rope.
Loop them.
Like when you get them out of the box.
Looped and twist tied?

If you dont mind getting pointed at by little kids in the street you should invest in a set of Beyerdynamic DT100s:

I know they are really studio \'phones but ive yet to find a set with such natural sound (no colouration whatsoever) Ive had mine for 5 years now, stiil going strong :)

But your gonna have to make your own cables if you want to use them with a \'personal stereo\' or whatever you kids call them nowadays lol

It also takes a lot of balls to wear them in public....

You are cursed! Either that or there\'s a magnetic-field generator inside you somewhere ???

Try multiplying that by maybe 15, or more.

The low-cost Sony headphones I mentioned the last time are still plugged into my PC! There\'s just a trace of vinyl left on the foam now and like I said they\'ve been slept on, dropped, stuffed in a rucksack day after day for months... still working just the same.

Last time? Oh right I posted something like this before. Well, I think I\'ll try what Jester said. What I want is something I can fit in my pocket for school, thats why I go for the in ear headphones.

Try finding a set of headphones with a integral neck cord. That might help reduce the potential for damage.
Also try not to get ones with too long a cable as this just gets in the road and you tend to wrap it around.
I put my MP3 into my shirt pocket as it\'s the ideal length for me.

I use these, they work great! I\'ve had them for 2 years now, and they are a little bit trashy, but that has to do with me sleeping with headsets on for the most time hehe. I think they work great, a little big perhaps to use to ipods and the like, but none the less very good. My longest lasting pair of headphones anyway! When i bought them they were a tad bit expensive though, but seeing as the cheap ones dont last more then a month I think these are worth every little penny!

I used to have a reel for my ear-buds.
I don\'t use ear-buds anymore, they hurt my ear, not too loud, just having them in hurt.
I got a pair of gamer surround sound headphones for my PC/Xbox, and I don\'t need them for anything else.
I wear a pair of fuzzy ones from radioshack for when I mow the lawn, but I wouldn\'t get something expensive for sweating in the yard.

The sound is very good from the bose phones and they are really well made even considering they fold nice and small... Eloise managed to break hers though and that\'s where Bose were tops... their customer service was flawless!

And these for at home:
