HederaHelix's Thread of Progress

Hello everybody! I'm here because a., I have terrible model ADD and like starting things better than finishing them, and b., I'd love to get constructive criticism on my painting. I'm hoping posting them here will help me on both fronts.
I've been painting for something like one and a half years now, and while I've definitely improved, I know I have a loooong way to go.

I was fortunate enough to make it to GenCon last month, where I picked up my first project, Grizzel from Studio McVey.
Here she is greenstuffed. You can see the little, ah, dimple in her forehead that I had to fill.

After a few hours of work, here's Mr. Chomps:

He definitely needs some lightening up in the face, and the ridges on his back need some major cleanup. Actually, everything needs cleanup, but the colors are generally where I want them to be!

Pointers, criticism, helpful compliments and just general advice is very much appreciated :) More to come.

Colors look good. As you say needs some cleanup. I think once the cleanup is done an you get his eyes and mouth started it will cause the head to pop and give you a better idea on further highlights.

It looks like you are already passing my skill level, so i can not give you much advice other than good job and welcome to the forumns.

KruleBear: Thanks, I think you're right about the head. I'm having some trouble with highlighting because I wasn't careful enough with the Thamar Black and Sanguine Base, so the Hammerfall Khaki just looks muddy. -_- Patience, I suppose!

Other projects on the table:

Very cool. What colors did you use on the drows skin? It looks a bit reddish and i think it would look good on the vampire i am dragging my feet on -- rather than just going with a typical pale look i see on a lot of the vampires in the gallery.

Also the hair and freehand looks good on the first mini.
