Yeah, and with it on, cause they made me shave my goatee off in Houston, I look like John Banner as Schultz from Hogans Heros.

I cant wait for my goatee to grow back in :D

Actually I\'ve been over here for two weeks now and just saw my first camel spider - it was about the size of a saucer (legs included) and hauling ass across the sunbaked asphalt after I drove it out from under a pallet of freight.

How\'s your \"I know nothinnngg...\"
Man, you\'d hate to aracnophobic around there, you\'d just stroke out on the spot seeing one of those babies- reminds me of \"Eight Legged Freaks\" All you need is a nice bug zapper- like a 12 guage. It must be so surreal over there.

My \"I know nothing\" is disappearing as my beard comes in - there aint a lot of entertainment over here, so growing one\'s facial hair is really exciting.

As for the Camel Spiders - I got a closer look at one today - the Marines had it in a Jar - and they got way to many legs to be a spider man.

Last mention

luckily camel spiders are not spiders at all as the esteemed DR above says they are members of the arachnids and are really SOLIFUGAE , which are related to mites, scorpians, vinegaroons and spiders.

And a quick search on the www will show that many people keep these cuddly little critters as pets :eek:

they mostly come at night....mostly

and are fairly harmless

\"Solifugids exhibit interesting behaviour patterns. They are called hair cutters because it is said that if a solifugid gets tangled in hair it will cut it\'s way free. Although this has never been substantiated they do make nests out of animal hair and there have been reports of people and pets loosing small patches of hair due to these animals. When active during the day they avoid the hot patches of ground and run from shadow to shadow even if the shadow is made by a human. When the human moves, the solifugid moves into the shadow. This gives the impression that the animal is chasing the human thus solifugids are commonly called hunting spiders.
Although these harmless creature may seem fierce and intimidating they perform some good to mankind by keeping scorpion, spider and insect populations in check.\"
