Help! Clear plastics: riot cop sheild and mask

I'm workin' on HF's Riot Cop Neil. Was going to zombie survivor him up but decided to just keep it real. How often do we get such a perfectly realistic 28mm British riot cop? I thought I knew a little bit....until I started the all black riot cop...whew..black is tough.

Anyway, I also want to keep the shield and face mask real.....and that would be clear plastics. It doesn't have to be a true "clear technique" just the illusion of that technique. Does that make sense? I've tried a few different things and I'm just not hitting it.

I'm starting to reach the point of just going another way. But, thought I'd search and ask the question here before I do that. Thanks in advance for any help.

This what I thought at first as well. But I think he is looking for a way to paint the existing sculpt with a look of clear glass. Usually I would go with ether black and a few blue to a finial white highlight or just a general light blue glass. There are some good articles on here on painting complex gems and stuff it's the same idea basicly.
