I saw this pic and want to paint some minis with the same skintone, but I\'m having a bit of trouble figuring out what paints to use (Vallejo preferred). Any ideas?

You need the eyes of a hawk...

Just a rough guess... (Skin tones)

It appears to be a mix of grey black/ yellowy brown colors highlighted up to an ivory white.

But it looks like there\'s some greens and purples in there too. Perhaps you could carefully wash these hues on after you\'ve based, highlighted and added the shading.

I\'d experiment a little with the colors first.

Regardless of what color choice you decide, you\'re definately in for some fun painting!

Enjoy!

One way to get that tone is to take blue and brown, mix them together and add a touch of white. You should end up with a grey that is mabey a little warm or a little cool depending of the ratio of blue/brown.

I\'d simply go from black and mixing in GWkommando khaki. Or a similar from VGC or VMC. However you probably need to correct it somewhat by adding a tiny bit of a yellow brown that draws towards green. Maybe snakebite leather with a ounch more green (or all three colours separate).

I\'d probably try starting with a dark brown and working up with GW rotting flesh (sorry I don\'t know a V equivalent - a pale olive green)

use a dark grey moving up to a light one, say silver grey as final highlights.

then to change the tones use carefully placed green, blue and black glazes.

sounds a bit crazy but try this with citadel paints.
touch of shadow Grey mixed with a little scorched brown and catachan green..highlight with Kommando Khaki and Fortress grey.
not sure on vallejo colour equivalents anyone know if such a thing as a link is available to do this ???

I\'d go for an Olive skin tone, some suggestions would be: 988 Khaki; 914 Green Ochre; 877 Goldbrown; 879 Green Brown; mixed with 860 Medium Fleshtone or what ever you prefer, then highlight as you would normally
another thing worth noting is she is being lit by moonlight, so that will also affect the look of her skintone

i know this isn\'t much help since you are not using GW paints, but something i am working on gives colours very close to what you\'re working on - desert yellow mixed with a tiny bit of black to make it a greenish grey, then highlighted with white comes close. a wash with or some scorched brown should give it a warm tone.

Hm, I\'d go with:

Base coat of VMC #887 Brown Violet (a deep olive-ish green), mix in #873 US Field Drab, highlights up to #819 Iraqi Sand with glazes of #918 Ivory for the hot spots. Shade the recesses with #822 SS Camo black(dark brown).

Just not seeing it drop to true black in the shadows on the skin.

There is the full picture. All of the drow girls except one have the same skintone (as far as I can tell).

For those who are interested, the picture originates from http://www.drowtales.com/main.php

I didn\'t say I *won\'t* use GW paints, just I\'d prefer not to since I\'ve been replacing them. Are you putting this mix over black basecoat?

I did a test piece, I didn\'t measure anything out tho just plopped some paints on a palette and started playing

Base: Goldbrown, with a touch of Olive Green in it
started first highlights by adding medium fleshtone, continued highlighting with thinned basic skintone (all Vallejo)

it came up pretty close, I\'ll post a pic later so you can see what you think
