Hi all. I\'m hoping someone can help me track down some minis, I\'m hoping to paint them up as gifts.

1. Harry Potter miniatures. I\'m particularly interested in Dumbledore, but I would like to see others as well. (I\'m rather surprised I can\'t find these! )

2. Baseball players. It would be a bonus if their were sculpts of historic player; Gherig, Ruth, etc.

3. American Football players.

Any help is most appreciated!

I\'m far from expert on the subject, but I don\'t think Ms. Rowling has granted the rights for Harry Potter miniatures to any company, as yet. If she has, I\'ve not heard of it, yet.

Sports miniatures . . . I have no idea. My collection is vast, and there may be some buried in there, somewhere, but it would take me a very long time to find them, assuming there are any actually in there.

More serious collectors and painters are very likely to know better than myself.

There are no \'official\' Potter minis that I know of, and I\'m fairly sure I\'d have found them if there were. There are some, like the Young Wizard from Werner Klocke, that would certainly pass though.

The only baseball minis I know of were a prepainted line a few years ago, I think an offshoot of Heroclix. The only one I\'ve got is a Reggie Jackson.

Never seen any football minis outside the fantasy genres like Blood Bowl, etc.

Basebal and Footbal: Tod McFarlane makes some large scale (in)action figures that could be good re-paint fodder, plus I know there\'s a line of smaller \'toys\' that would also be ripe for repainting. Not positive on the name though as I\'n not a sports collector.

There are some potter minis, official ones, but they are the collectors types, in pewter that people don\'t normally paint. I\'ve seen them in one of the small pamflets that come with the DVDs where they sell replica Wands and Such. It may be Weta Workshop, but maybe not, I don\'t have one at hand, or at home as I tossed them all after looking through them. Here\'s a link to one of the companies pages: http://www.noblecollection.com/catalog/catalog.cfm?catid=21 I can see a mini owl, Fluffy, a Centaur and more on the main page. There are some collectable busts here: http://www.wbshop.com/cat/Harry-Potter/Collectibles/

There\'s probably more out there.

Well, that centaur is 9 inches high and Fluffy is a foot long...and at those sizes (and prices, ouch) I wouldn\'t really classify them in the \'painting miniature\' category. :)
