Help for Hurricane Victims

Hi all,
this is certainly a worthwhile topic for me to finally quit lurking and make a post.

Tracy, it\'s great to hear your getting it worked out so this project can continue. I personally don\'t have any problem with the 70% auctions if that\'s what it takes. It\'s a shame ebay will make such a profit off of other people\'s kindness, but you certainly shouldn\'t have to foot the bill. As you have said, you are already donating immense amounts of time just to list and run the auctions. Personally I don\'t have a lot of cash to donate either, or to pay the immense fees we\'re going to incur. So, like I said, if 70% is the best we can do, then that\'s what we\'ll have to do.

P.S. I\'m working on a highborn w. great weapon. He\'s green stuffed and primed, and I should be able to meake good progress this weekend on getting him painted.

Vlad if you do it that way Paypal will get paid twice.

You will incure the paypal charges for your auction and then when you pay that money to Tracy she will incure the charges from you paying her.

yay, I\'m glad to see these auctions starting up, and all with bidders already! :)

Well mine is nearly done, just the banner left to do now :) (and the blade at the top of the banner pole, but since I use that point to hold him, I figured I\'d do it last :))

I\'ve gotten so tired of stairing at him, so I thought I\'d inflict him on you guys one last time before he\'s done.

That is really interesting though, I didn\'t know about this group, I grew up in Berkeley and have friends there, so perhaps I should make a trip :)

anyway, at Duendes request, here is back shot at the moment as well (stupid banner has 2 sides to do!!!)

@Cukier - this looks great! Very impressive style on the wardancer.

@Kev - I really like the armor, wish you would tell me how you did it.

@Eric - as usual, you make me want to go hide in the corner with my brushes.

Can\'t wait to see more finished work!!!

Terry...I surely will tell you how I did it...
It\'s relatively simple.

The armor was based in Vallejo Intermediate blue.
I then washed the entire bit of it in Reaper Blueliner. (you could probably mix a vallejo Dark Prussian blue and a bit of black grey to get nearly the same color).
I cleaned it up again with Intermediate blue, getting rid of the \"messiness\" that generally comes with washes.
I glazed/feathered is successive layers of Reaper Blue Liner for the shade.
I glazed/feathered in highlights with Vallejo Pale Greyblue.
I used white for the glare.

No color mixes anywhere---just glazes/washes/feathering.

The only trick is like usual---just making the blends across short areas for the really stark contrast.

That help at all? Feel free to ask if you need further info---I\'m always glad to help.

A little further note---you can \"tint\" most any metal this way a bit---by just glazing in shadows on the color tint that you want. In this case a sort of \"blue steel\" look. You just need to be sure and keep the tint concentrated mostly in the shadows and make sure that you always do it before your final highlights. I believe alot of the Rackham guys do similar things to get their tinted metals.

Thanks,
Kev

And this is about it for the weekend...

I got quite a bit done this weekend, but the rest I\'ll have to finish late tonight through the week. Anyway, here\'s the last WIP \'til I\'m done with him.....

Ok. So heres a quick picture of my \"finished\" waywatcher, and the trees that I\'ve started are in there too. The picture isn\'t the greatest quality, and it\'s a lil small. Some of the highlights are washed out, but it was very subtle to start with. Any tips or suggestions would be great.

Love the work shown in the pics above...GREAT stuff.

As I know have TWO lol Spellsingers to paint instead of one, I\'m gonna have to beg off the Ponies.

I\'ll be starting the Female Spellsinger tomorrow night.
