Help identifying these?

Here are a couple of minis that I would like some help identifying:

Unknowns.jpg

The top little monster looks like a cross between a bat and Mothra. Almost reminds me of a Cthulhuesqe creature, but I have never seen it in auctions of Cthulhu minis.

The second is a Ral Partha mini that I am going to paint sometime soon, and he seems to resemble something that might come from a historical line. If so, I would like to use the correct color schemes/styles when I paint him.

Any thoughts?

Not sure on the 1st one, but the 2nd to me reminds me of an English soldier sometime in the medieval period with that classic Iron helmet that covers the nose and that giant circular shield.

With the historical mini you can\'t go far wrong by sticking to neutral colours. Undyed wool is a good bet possibly coupled with some darker brown trousers. If you want him to be a bit wealthier than your average peasant you could always add some decoration to the trim. He has reasonably close fitting trousers which suggests he belongs to a Germanic tribe like the Saxons and would probably have fair hair. Take a look at Littlebigmen for some inspiration on shield designs.

As for the other thing God only knows lol

Those legs and tail on that first thingie really remind me of a mini I\'ve seen before but the wings and face throw it right off. I\'m wondering if it\'s a re-sculpt of something. I won\'t swear to it but I think I\'m remembering it as a \'bugbear\' or some such.

Thanks for the help guys! I will probably go more for a \"commoner in the ranks\" look to the historical figure, and I appreciate the link, Undave.

Anyone else have a clue about the little beastie?
