so Ive been inspired to paint up some lizardmen. All the wips about them, and the fact that they were the first minis i painted (the last edition) way back when, ive decided I needed to paint up a few at least and if i could find an opponent maybe a small army.

I have some saurus\' heads (dont ask me why) and I painted up a few quick so i know what i wanna do before I buy anything. but I honestly cant decide which color scheme i like better.

Im leaning more towards the red/yellow and teal/yellow, but i do kinda like the black/yellow. plz lemme know what you guys think.

I was also thinkn if i did make a small army, maybe having the units in dif schemes but, they would all have the yellow to tie it together as an army.

the heads look fantastic to start with, I think I favor the purple and yellow to be honest, I think teal would be my second choice. The only one Im not a fan of would be the black and yellow a bit to bumble bee for me. Whatever you chose I think will turn out fantastic with your banded scheme, sort of remindes me of a clown fish. I might have to steal your design for one of my smaller units or a character

I like the red ones and my fiance to be really likes the purple one. The black is cool, but I feel that you lose contrast with it.

I\'m sure they\'ll look awesome no matter what you choose. Great color schemes!

For starters I want to say that concept is pretty nice, the heads look great

I like the purple / yellow and the teal / yellow the best

I guess with lizardmen you could pretty much use all the colors you want to especially if the WIP is large enough to show varient spawnings.

I am not too fond of the black / yellow. .. it does not look tropical to me. The red/yellow is ok

Have you thought about a different color other than yellow to show constrast? maybe teal / purple?

hmm interesting, it never occurred to me to not have yellow stripes (for w/e reason). When i get home today ill prob paint up a few other combos like: teal/red, purple/red, red/purple, and any others that are suggested. I was thinkn about blue but I dont wanna go near the GW scheme.

but I also take it that everyone likes the pattern Ive chosen.

i would vote for the black gold one. mainly because it reminds me of phil kellys tyranids and those are just awesome.

check em\' out on the gw website.

I wanted a different look for some of my saurus warriors, I tried the red / purple effect like your yellow/red one .... I got lost on what to do on the body lol so i got 8 heads painted lol

yeah, haha, I\'m hoping I can get the pattern I have to work when i get to the torso. I think It might lessen a bit when it goes to their bodies. Looking at tree frogs it only seems like they have the bulk of the pattern on their backs and legs but not bellies.

Since I bought some coldone riders I am stumped on how to color them. I dont want them to be as colorful as the riders, but at the same time they shouldnt look like they came from a different jungle. You guys got any suggestions?

I still need to touch him up a bit on the claws and such, but this is pretty much it.

I would also like it if you all could leave me some helpful tips for making the metallics look better.

I started with a mix of 1:1 shinning gold and scorched brown for the base. then shinning gold, followed by a wash of beastial brown then a wash with chaos black. followed then by a highlight of shinning gold, then a highlight 1:1 shinning G and Mithril silver. then mithril silver on the small corners and such.

This still doesnt look right, and its mostly me experimenting (since metallics are pretty new for me) and trying to find something that works for my style.

Red/blue/yellow looks good if you can balance the colors well. You seem to have done that. Gorgeous use of color on the model, I really love the contrast and the saturation of the colors. On lots of armies that looks unrealistic, but these guys are freaking Dinosaurs riding other dinosaurs who get bossed around by Frogs. It\'s okay to be a bit less realistic :D
