it\'s easy to forget someones age when on a site that they are suppose to be 18 or over.

paper round mate, it will take a long while to build up the money, but it will be your hard earned money at the end of the day.

I had a normal job when I was 12 years old, I never had to ask my parents for anything... why can\'t kids go out and work, what the hell... there are plenty of easy jobs

- Go to the local UPS, and ask if you can apply to wash their vans
- Go door by door and ask if you can rake leaves
- Ask people if you can shovel their snow
- Ask local dog owners if they need someone to walk their dogs
- apply as a dishwasher to any restaurant, I think they hire at 15 years old or maybe 16
- Apply at a local grocery store as a cart boy


The more active you are the more money you can make, get off your arse and do something

About 1 month of decent work and you will have the money you need and some

Hestan-Don\'t be scared off. People were just reacting to the \"No likey Job\" comment. No harm, no foul. If you want to make some money myself and plenty of the happy people here are more than ready top help you brainstorm some ideas that may be more appropriate to your age.

If you\'re young you probably have some lvl 70 world of warcaft acounts. Sell \'em. Ask people who buy those kind ofthings if they want a lvl 70 whatever and do it for them. I\'m guessing you have the time. Making money doesn\'t have to be the traditional style work/job format. Use your imagination and your rescources (time being the biggest most likely).

You might not be able to market your painting skills yet but if you can scrape mold lines and assemble plastic figs you can probably make a little cash doing that. I don\'t know if they let you hang posters in GW stores but that might be a place to start. If you don\'t feel comfortable sticking your neck back out on a thread here on the forums you can PM me and I\'ll try to help you get soem good ideas going here. 500 pounds is certainly do-able, at any age!

Heston - why do you need £500?
What are you planning to do if not work for money in the future? Possibly a career in charitable voluntary work?
Why, when all you do is moan about painting do you NOT want to join the local painting group?

Please - think carefully about answering, remember I know people who know you. Plus sooner or later I\'ll see you in GW and I\'ll expect some answers (mostly about the painting group tbh - I don\'t really care about the £500)

No one is going to GIVE you £500, and unless you plan to scam it from people (NOT recommended), you will probably have to earn it - like the rest of us do.
I\'d start thinking about where you can work - you could paint for money, ever thought about that?

I think in todays age its hard for a young person to get jobs, paper rounds are low because superstores are everywhere and most people get their papers from them.

Very few local shops will hire people who are too young unless its cash in hand at very local stores (again less of these due to superstores) but still at 12 the little ones wouldn\'t take on.

As for other suggestions you could always try washing some cars, do some saturday some sunday an school it during the week.

But i think brits dont really do the raking leaves part, i mean nobody has ever offered it to me and i have never offered to for someone else nor have i raked my own leaves.

i have been working since i was 15 then paper rounds before that, i worked through college and am still through university and yet people look down on a student as a scrubber, and other youngsters get labelled as benefit livers. What pisses me off most is the majority of people i have met on benefits are too lazy to work, because its easier not too and usually aren\'t young people but a lot older.

People get on their high horse when somebody tries to do something, props to sam saving for his pc, props to hestan when he gets his £500

Cleezy, I think if you look back through the thread you\'ll see people reacted AFTER young Hestan declared he didn\'t have a job, and NEVER wanted a job.

Good point about the younger element today, and I know I automatically assume anyone under the age of 20 doesn\'t want to do a days work. I myself have my problems with the next generation coming down the pipe. I run a retail meat shop and I hire A LOT of students (high school and University aged) and the ethic just isn\'t there. It\'s not glamorous work, it pay\'s just SLIGHTLY more then the legal minimum, but work is still work. If you can\'t love what you do then try to love what it does for you in terms of goals etc.

That\'s me on my soapbox anyway. I\'m more than happy to help anyone at any age try to solve a problem if I can. Money problems usually have one best solution... work.

I\'m sorry, Mike, but I still think you\'re overreacting a bit. I\'m well aware of my own twattish behaviour when I was Hestan\'s age (and for a while after...), but all this guy said was, jokingly, that he never wanted to have a job! The tone of his first post made it pretty obvious that he\'s not an adult. With that in mind, talking to him about leeching off the benefits system seems a bit de trop. I didn\'t say that he was too young, I said that not all of us learn by that age. Maybe he\'s learning now.

Hestan: it\'ll certainly be useful to do get a job, because by the time you do have coursework (aged 14/15) you will have far less free time to do a job. Personally though I would try just to enjoy being a kid while you still can!
