help me with a conversion

I\'m doing a conversion for Aus golden demon, I want it to be the best I can do so I\'ve come to the best for some advice...

OK so this is a WIP, and I\'m posting to get some suggestions on how I should proceed. I\'ve got lots of ideas, but I\'m avoiding doing any of the delicate work until I\'m clear exactly what I\'m doing, no point in adding a bunch of spines if I just snap them off doing the rest of it.

I plan on doing the following:
1) Add rivets around the edges of the armour plates.
2) Add a shattered armour peice to the right hand side of the faceplate with little tentacles bursting out (I\'ll use the tips of the green stuff sausages I\'ve rolled).
3) The tubes I\'ve made will come out of the plastic chest plate, two will go from the top corners up over the shoulders, and two out the side round to the back, then two will come out the bottom, I\'m unsure where to put these two, maybe into the codpeice, or possibly to the weapon, what do you think?
4) I\'ll add spines down the left hand leg on the side, and use the termie spikes and more spines on the right shoulder pad.
5) The left hand shoulder pad will have more cracked/bursting armour plates, maybe with tentacles and a nurgle symbol, probably just three dots.
6) The forehead will have a 3 dot nurgle symbol sculpted on.
The big spike and two smaller ones wil be put on the top back. The alternative is to take a spike and add the nurgle symbol from the chaos vehicle sprue, not sure what would look best.
7) Make a rusted axe like blade for the right hand weapon, tied with rope and bond in cloth, distress the gun with cracked plates.
7) I will generaly distress the armour, making cracks and burst plates with stuff oozing out.

I\'m unsure about base, so I\'m going to make a few and see which looks best, the first will be a raised set of steps with a broken wall/window at the back, the top step will have the termie and the lower step will have a nurgling on it. Another possibility would be urban ruins.

So any suggestions/improvements to what I\'ve outlined?

Yeah, it sounds awesome! I can\'t think of that much to change .......ummm..... I looked at the picture, and I think the large plastic spike with the two heads on it might just be a bit too big/ungainly/badly sculpted. It\'d be nice to have a little river of muddy water running down the stairs on the base, and... continuing on with the spines idea, IMHO , it\'d look cool to sculpt just a bit of a kinda arched back sticking through his rear armour plates, with spines/horns emerging from that. If ya get the picture? I get excited when these threads come up, because i have neither the time nor the resources to realize my beatiful visions :) Fingers crossed for when I get a digi cam!

Thanks for the suggestions so far, I\'m going to see what spines down the back and back of the lower legs look like.

Progress so far: I\'ve added 4 tubes to the chest plate (I\'m pretty happy how these look, but I\'m gonna leave the ones coming out the bottom until I\'ve done a bit more), and some rivets to the lower legs.
I\'ve started distressing the armour, I\'ve cut a section out of the righthand leg that I will build up again with greestuff to look like a damaged plate so you can see the lower layers of armour beneath the Ceramite.
I\'ve also done a base, its an L shaped step with a section of wall behind it with a window from the Mordheim ruins. Its L shaped so the back of the mini isn\'t totally obscured by the wall. There is space on the lower step for a nurgling, and I may put one peering through the window.

The spines idea gave me the idea of having some tentacles coming out of the vents at the back of the mini, I may open up one of the slats and reform it from wire with the tenatcle bursting through or I may just have them squeezing through the gaps.

When I feel I progressed a bit further, I\'ll put up some more pics and see what you think.

OK I\'ve put a new WIP photo up.

I\'ve finally learnt my lesson and I\'m only adding one part of green stuff to the mini at a time (otherwise I squash what I\'ve already done), thus its taking ages to make progress.
I\'m now thinking that the 4 tubes are enough, so I think I may just put a skull where the termie honours were on his belt, but if anyone can come up with a better suggestion I\'d love to hear it. I\'ve deceided that the spines and tentacles will be the last things I add. I think some spines along the top of the gun will look good, little ones about 5mm high should do.
The apparent mess on his right leg is actually a broken armour plate with a grid pattern of underarmour revealed, its just out of focus. I\'m really pleased with how the diseased parts of the armour have come out. I made 3 different sized plastic rods with holes drilled in the end, to get the effect you wet the green stuff and then press the tip into it making the raised pustuleating boil.

Very very nice, make sure you do litle cuts on the \"grey box\" on the front of his armor, it should have a litle rust/battle damage.
Wish i could do this, I dont have the patience for this... Tell us how things went with the GD !

For inspiration, check this site:

Keep up the good work !

Repent is a great site, I\'ve been looking there a lot, lots of stuff for the budding converter.
