help needed choosing colors

so, i\'ve started painting up a Celestine model, just plain and simple, the only conversion i did was to chop off that halo and sand off the Fleur-the-lys.

But now I\'m wondering what color to paint the cloth.....

the armor itself will be NMM (Grey/steel mostly, with gold on the shoulders) but i cant decide what color i should do the back cloth, and the \"skirt\".

I started with the idea to keep the mini really bright, almost white. with light blue (going to white) for the outside of the cloth, and light pink (going to white) on the inside.
But recently I\'m thinking about adding a bit more contrast and paint the cloth Black (going to white) on the outside, and red (going to really bright) on the inside.

this is my first real try at NMM, so far, it\'s been a blast. I\'d also like to try and get a reflection of the cloth on the armor (kind of like Matt\'s superb Sigvald)

I just can\'t decide which combination would look better.

Oh, and as an aside, I\'m also looking for something to freehand onto the back cloth (another practice run, so nothing too complicated) and a phrase to go on a band at the bottom of that same backcloth

please help me

Buy a second of the mini, and do both? :)

No, I\'m really not much help. They both sound like good schemes. Good luck figuring it out.

That was something i was planning on anyway, one loyalist, and one Traitor, with really subtle horns and stuff.

but that does not solve my current dillemma, any other suggestions ???

Well the Black / red combination is more in keeping with the archetypal SoB colour scheme, and the black outer should allow you to paint stuff on the back which will stand out.

As for freehand, a detail of the SoB Fleur de lys would be a relatively easy place to start. If you want some phrases, look up \"Latin phrases\" in any search engine and you should find plenty of pages to get some inspiration. Here\'s one to start you off:-

@nels0nmac:Thanks for the phrases, and where to find them. Those might prove really useful, in future projects too.

about the freehand however, i have deliberately removed all the fleur-de-lys, I\'m a bit hesitant to paint one back onto the back....

oh, and i\'m leaning more and more towatrds a black-red scheme, anyone about to change my mind???
