Help: weather & battered Imperial Fists

Greetings! I am wanting to start a Imperial Fists army and have been experimenting with various degrees of success on ways of approaching the paint scheme. I find my ability to paint is sufficient, but my knowledge is lacking.

I would really appreciate as much help as possible on how to produce some high quality Imperial Fists that that have (a) battle damage and (b) are heavily weathered.

I am interested in qualitity, not mass production (or so I say now...)

You might want to check this one out:

I would go for brown chips and scratches, as it provides good contrast against the yellows.

Purple is a great colour for shading yellow. Use it in tiny amounts.
I also find a lot of extremely transparent coats of purple over the yellow really seems to enhance the colour.

Well, it\'s not a mini, but here\'s a yellow thing that has some purple for shading. It\'s not going to help but I\'m sat here waiting for the rugby.
