HELP- Where can I find Golden Demon Rules?

I\'ve been searching around on the perfectly easy to navigate (yeah right) GW site and can seem to find a listing of Golden Demon rules. I have some ideas and I don\'t want to start planning bases and such without having a good look at the rules. Anybody got a URL where I can find the set of rules???

Thanks!

Ummm... For which event?

There are different Golden Demon competitions all over the world, and the rules are often different in each country.

I notice you location says you are in the US. If you are wondering about the US demons, they are all done this year, and the rules have not yet come out for next year\'s US Demons. Typically the rules for the US Demons seem to come out only a couple of months before the first of our four Demon competitions. So you can either wait until the rules come out or you can try and make safe guesses based on previous rules. Hope that helped. :)

Any thing specific you wanted to know or were wondering about?

I am looking for the rules for US competition and I assume that using the 2004 rules as a guideline should not leave me too far off the mark for 2005. But I can\'t find the US rules for Golden Demons anywhere on the site. I know it\'s there but I can seem to come up with it.

Thanks for helping me clarify:D

Basically follow the UK rules and you should be OK. The rest of the world is gradually being drawn into line with the UK over some of the judging Criteria.

For basing, use the same size base that the mini was purchased with. If that is going into a scenic base then the original base must be able to be lifted out for close inspection. This applies for Single Miniatures and Squads. For Warhammer Command Groups the figures should be able to be \"ranked up\", But that \'rule\' has been \'overlooked\' in the past when it suited them.

For Duel/Dioramas the original bases do not have to be used but the overall size is limited for dioramas. In the UK no larger than 30cm (1 foot in old money).

Things to consider.
DO NOT USE other modelling company\'s bits & pieces in or on your mini\'s. That\'s an Automatic Disqualifier. And the GW judges usually have a memory second to none when it comes to GW\'s products.
(I saw a great scenic piece using a bridge and heavily converted very well painted Brettonian not get anywhere because the bridge was \"From Another Company\" )

If you are using scenic materials then you have to be careful. Remember Less is More! The real name of the game is : How does the model best represent and promote GW sales. So a figure with lots of scenery blocking the front view is not going to \"Catch the eye\".

Neat and clean paintwork on the base is important as is not overpowering the mini by having it stand on a huge lump of wood.

Hope this lot helps.

Some caveats to that...

The US rules ARE different.

The US has NO Duel category. Just battlescene (which can be a duel or something larger).

The rules for bases have shifted around a lot over the last three years in the US due to some judging issues.

Also, this year in Canada, they gave approval in advance for an entry that was based on a non-GW base (it was a warmachine base). It made first cut, IIRC...

Let me see if I can dig up a copy of the US rules in any of my old emails...

That would be great Cento! The last thing I want to do is come up with something cool that I am really proud of and have it bounced for some nit-picky rules violation.

Damn. I apparently deleted the rules from my email. Surely SOMEONE out there must still have a copy of the rules...

Whoo Hoo I\'ll lay a pound to a penny that will not happen in the UK. And I seriously doubt that it\'ll happen again in the US or Canada.
Not GW products on a winner.....How\'ll they sell stuff? ???

Yeah, the North American judging and ruling seems to be a lot more confused and shifting than the rest of the world. The figure entered on a Warmachine base was done by Tim, the same guy who won a Silver demon a year or two ago for a Greater Demon that used both Warhammer and Lord of the Ring pieces in the same model. They have now decided that it isn\'t allowed and even used his winning model as an example of what isn\'t allowed this year... lol

But in general, the rule of thumb in the US seems to be that you can make some educated guesses, but you will never know the rules for sure until GW puts them out 2 months before the event... :(

Crap.... It may take me 2 months to do EACH of the 3 entries I want to do...grumble... Well maybe I just need to plan on going to a later GD rather than LA which usually seems to be the first of the year.:~(
