Help with hair color recipe

I am undertaking a commission for a diorama depicting a scene from a Conan story entitled \"The Frost Giant\'s Daughter\". The character the story is titled after is a sort of nordic nymph who uses her beauty to lure men to their death at the hands of her Frost Giant brothers, so that they may offer the hearts up to their father Ymir. Anyway, her hair is described as....\"neither red nor yellow but a glorious compound of both colors\". At times her hair appears red to Conan, at other times yellow. I am thinking of using a paint recipe like I use for copper NMM - reddish-brown worked up with yellow-brown tones and yellow mixed in for final highlights, perhaps a thin yellow glaze at the end. I would welcome any ideas any of you have. Below is the picture my client sent of the girl he would like me to use as a model for the miniature of Atali (The Frost Giant\'s Daughter):

I don\'t know if you\'ve seen them, but on my Shadow Warriors I used Vermin Brown highlighted with Bronzed Flesh to get a brown/red/yellowish hair colour. Take a look here

Maybe it\'s a bit too orangey though...

Actually that looks pretty close, maybe mix in some yellow or just glaze with yellow at the end. I told the client I would do a test run on another figure first so he can see what he thinks of the hair color, so maybe I will try that recipe and see what happens. So you based with Vermin Brown and then worked up from there with the bronzed Flesh?

Yes, exactly, sorry about the lousy description lol I think I also added Bleached Bone to the final highlights.

Did you edit the picture yorself? I get the feeling it was a wee-bit more revealing than you\'ve given us here lol.

Otherwise, Astonia is your (wo)man.

LOL - yeah, I had to do some cropping or I think I would have gotten in a bit of trouble. I had to get the tips of the hair in there though for highlights.. The rest of the picture was for skintone :D

I told the client that there is no way I can concentrate on painting with that picture around (and there are 2!) - I already have a weakness for redheads and this one is amazingly beautiful.

Ok, here is what I have come up with. I am thinking I may need another brownish-red glaze to match the hair color of the model, but I think its pretty close. I started with Astonia\'s recipe, but substituted Ral Partha Red Brown for the Vermin Brown, as I thought the VB looked too orange. I did mix a little Reaper Burnt Orange with the Bronzed Flesh though. Anyway, after the final addition of bleached bone it just didn\'t seem to have the brown depths and the yellowish tints to it, so I wound up glazing with Scorched Brown (being a red-brown in tone) and then re-highlighted with a very dilute (basically glazed the highlights) mix of Burnt Orange and Reaper Sunlight Yellow, but then it was too yellow, so i wound up doing 2 more glazes of the Scorched Brown.
As it is now, I am unsure if i should leave it or glaze again with the SB? Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks! :)

Oh, and this isn\'t the commission figure, just a test run on something I had primed and sitting around. So I can mess with it all I need.

The hair is coming along well. a good dummy run. What\'s worrying is that your figure is even more risque than the picture lol.

I would suggest a little whitish or bleached bone type highlighting on tips and crown to show it glowing as the photo does perhaps.

I like the other picture better (she looks like Liv Tyler, Aaaahh! Liv Tyler.......), but the \'test shot\' is very rude (when you look VERY closely). Now that would \'stand out\' if painted.

Good dummy run, Ahem! :innocent:

God! How sad are we (me included).

I\'ll trump you with a Daniel O\'Donnell. :wow:

EDIT: Oi Gevalt, I\'ve just had a look at that \"test\" mini................It\'s a bl**dy good job my mother never goes online. She had a right hissy fit at Calendar Girls, I dread to think what she\'d said about that.

Yes, even after nearly Fifty years your mother still can give you grief!!

Sorry, changed the picture. I guess that was odd reasoning to edit the first one and then not the second one.
Thanks for the advice on the highlighting Reverend!
And yes, there are 3 piercings on her :D
