Help with Image 5957

What can I do to improve this mini or what is wrong with it to receive such low scores. I thought it was one of my better conversions, but obviously many don\'t think so.

Any and all constructive comments welcome.

I\'m going on a limb here...

...and assume that you meant \"5957\" and not \"957\" or \"%957\".

So, what I see is:

1) The angle of the photo may not be right to show the mini. As it stands, it is really difficult to tell the left arm, or whatever he is carrying.

2) The paintjob is lacking. Seems to me that the armor has no definition and too many washes were applyed sloppily.

3) There are lots of detail that could have been picked up, like the rivets on the backpack, the skull on the belt and such.

4) The eyes. Shade the eyesocket with a medium green, and then highlight the center with the green you are using for a less forced \"glowing evil stare\" look. As it is, it looks like a bad photoshop edit.

Now, this is only my opinion, no offense intended.

Thanks for the response.

The look I was going for on the armour was a mottled effect. Primed Black w/grey and white splotches under a red glaze. Guess it doesn\'t work.

How do you mean pick out the rivits? ???

I\'ll try to do the eye thing that you suggested.

There are several ways to do it: Paint the rivets black, then paint them again white, leaving some of the black around them for contrast; after that, paint the head of the rivet the color of the highligts you are using. That would give them more definition.

Alternately, after painting them black, you might want to paint the rivet head with metal. Brass or gold look good with red, but you can experiment on your own.

Apart of picking up rivets, try the following, thin down your paint a tad, since it looks a tad thick, and that might be the photo.

Also you may try to blend color a tad, and by the way table top quality is not bad ;-)

We all learn from one model to the next.... and the mottled effect you were going for does not show in teh photo either.
