Help with varnishing

I\'m looking for a good matt varnish.
I find the most durable finish for gaming is given by using gloss enamel varnish, but when I try to use GW spray matt varnish to dull this down it still looks shiny.
I find that the paint on humbrol matt varnish gives variable results (seems to start off glossy getting more matt until eventually it starts to show white). GW spray on its own is OK, but it chips really easily.

So does anyone know of a good matt varnish? Preferably in a spray.

Any other suggestions for good methods are welcome.
Thanks

Much debate has been raging over Testos, but I myself use a Krylon Matte spray intended for artwork. It\'s usually used on charcoal, pastels, and such but it says you can use it on paint, so I do! I figure if I\'m going to buy it for school, I\'ll use it at home. It did come out frosty once, but not again. I may have been to close, though.

Sounds like it is not mixed well. The flatening agents are kinda white milky and the rest is gloss varnish.

Personally, I use testors dullcoat (brushon) Soft 1/4\" flat brush.

Hummmm.
If i\'m not mistaking there already has been a forum article about varnish, and if I remember well Testor came out 1st by a large amount. I use GW and never had a problem with it exept that after some time it kinda accumulates dust so I have to clean my minis using slightlie wet toilet paper or somthing that looks like it.

D\'oh
yep read that thread now.

So next question. What type of paint is testors dullcoat? I just looked in my local art shop and they don\'t have it. What they do have are a variety of sealants and varnishes for finishing paintings.

Now I can just buy a bunch of them and test, but I would rather be able to at least narrow it down so I don\'t waste money.

So what should I be looking for? Enamels? Acrylics? Something else?

Finally I\'m in Australia, so if anyone knows of a good brand available here that would be great.
Thanks

(great site by the way, lots of inspiration)
