howdy folks finally got the internet at home and got broadband from SKY (a UK thing) and it included a wireless router but no USB drive thingy.

I\'ve got a Dell Inspiron 530 and was wondering if it has some sort of wireless connection in it or if I have to buy one. I\'m using Vista and can\'t for the life of me find how to set up a wireless connection on it.Any help would be great cheers.

If it\'s anything like my router you have to plug it into the PC first in order to set it up. If it hasn\'t got a USB cable does it have an ethernet one?

Run the Dell Modem Helper that\'s built in.
If you have what you need, it\'ll set you right up.
If you have to buy something, it\'ll tell you no hardware was detected.

That\'s how I got my wife\'s wireless running on our network.

Tech support never thought of it.

I think you will find that your pc has no wireless connectivity.

personally I would use a lan cable if possible. If not then a cheap usb wireless stick will do the job.

Absolute doddle to set up either way.

You\'ll need to do one of the following:

1. Get a wireless adapter (pci slot)
2. Get a wireless USB adapter
3. Run an ethernet (rj-45) cable from PC to router, which means you\'re not using the wireless :)

Granddad!
and don\'t forget to set up the security so no one can park up outside your house and log into your network

If in doubt try [FN][F2] to switch your wireless card thingy on
