HELP! Working on idea, not sure how to do it!

I\'m hoping one of the many highly talented painters around here can help me with a thorny issue. One of my Golden Demon ideas involves a cannon that has just shot, and I need a way to make it look that way, as in smoke billowing out and all of that . Any ideas??? any body seen this done so that I can have a look. Thanks!

I saw it done with wire wool once. It looked quite effective. Also, check for a recent thread by DR for one of his Unsung Hero thinngs. One of the last had used some pretty good smoke effects in their gallery.

steal whool... only painted near the end to make it look like flame.... or use orc hair from fantasy battle but thats used for more of a flame... ive seen them done that way before looked good

I did the smoke Eric J is talking about. I did it with a small pair of scissors and some dense foam rubber. It take a while. When you paint it wet the foam rubber and dilute the paints or it comes out looking like foam rubber with cake frosting on it. Good luck.

you can use a little cotton wool and paint some black to give that realistic touch.

I agree, it\'s a great idea taken form, especially nice because it is so different from other smoke out there and very effective. I\'m thinking about trying it on a smaller scale for an upcoming project.
