I need help with elf skin! Since I\'m starting a wood elf army as soon as the minis are released, and i don\'t use vallejo, so please \"translate\" them into GW paints!

I always used to use Elf Flesh as a base. Thinly wash it with whatever colour you want to darken it with - tan, purple, greenish brown... Highlight with Elf Flesh then Pallid Flesh maybe a touch of white?

You can always stick a touch of blue or green in these colours to stop \'em looking so pink.

Try Elf Flesh a dilute wash of Dark Flesh (& I mean dilute) then re- highlight with Elf Flesh and highlight with Pale Flesh.
that should givce you a slightly Mahogany shadow tonality, excellent for Wood Elves.

Yes I\'m kinda liking those tree huggers as well.

WHAAAT!!

Just look at them close up, they\'re by far the most cohesive army GW\'s done yet in my opinion, and I usually hate the pointy ears. The plastics are awesome, especially the Dryads. Oooh, and I think that the Waywatchers are my favourite GW figures since the latest Horrors came out.

As for Elf flesh, on High Elves I think milky pale is fine, but I actually prefer it darker than humans on Dark and Wood Elves. I realise that’s a little unusual, but for me it somehow fits the feel of the miniatures better.

Not getting into an arguement over these things but I think the Dryads are the worst of the lot, I really like the limited editions because they look different from the normal GW stuff and I like the idea of the scupted bases/bits of trees they have been cast on so that they stand out more but as for collecting a whole bunch of them affraid not Warmaster is my scene for table top fun and out of that I collect Orcs & Goblins because everything else just seems static by comparison :D

I was going to start my own thread, but...

I\'m not a virgin anymore!!!

I was at my LGS when one of those ebil WH players came over to me and started talking about minis. He mentioned the wood elves and looking at the blisters in front of us I told him I really didn\'t care for GW\'s elves. Then he did it... he showed me the pictures in White Dwarf... THE BASTARD!

I couldn\'t believe my freakin\' eyes! These are GW sculpts? DAMN!!!!

(I have to agree with Wargriffon though, the Dryads leave me cold like an Ogre Kingdoms Yeti)

So, going against my vow to not buy GW merchandise anymore I will be buying these guys; Maybe even paint an army. :(

And......... I bought my very first copy of White Dwarf! Oh, the shame of it... the inhumanity... and I went home and read it cover to cover, devouring every last drop of mini-goodness.

I feel so dirty. :|~

Don\'t worry, you\'ll get used to that feeling lol

This is one of the great things about this hobby, one man\'s meat is another man\'s poison.

I personally really like the dryads, they look like really p***ed off Tree spirits :)

The Wood Elf range was a real joy to paint and all they guys/gals enjoyed it and the result is a great looking army :) (well I think so anyway :p )

If you like the colour of the skin on the Studio Elves they were:

Shade colour: Tanned Flesh
Basecolour: Dwarf Flesh
Highlights: Add Bleached bone

:)

Sorry, i am new to this quote thing...

No problem, you\'ll soon get used to the quoting system.

In answer to your question, yeah I am a studio painter, I also have the sometimes unenvyable task of trying to keep the \'Eavy Metal team in some sort of order :)

They is my Bitches :D
