Thanks Freak, rider...no rider...it doesn't matter to me. Although, if they are charging into battle, I'll have to convert them into getting the hell out of dodge.
I can't have them look like they're bellowing a war cry since they'd be screaming for their momma. haha! Thansks Mar - that's the problem, too dark and bronzy. I'm trying to lighten it up a bit. Not much...just a bit. And you can paint one like it as long as you buy me one to paint like yours.

I've liked this Dragon since I saw the original piece a couple of years ago at Gamesday UK.
I'm not going to say you're a lucky girl as this is going to be purchased by me in the very near future, (either in 7 days or on 30th October) and that's a stated Fact.
Kathryn if you're finding that you're having trouble with the bronze, consider getting hold of Vallejo Airbrush Tank Brown. Its a very dark Red Brown (think Liquid Burnt Sienna) and will work the shadow areas nicely, given that its airbrush consistancy you'll fine that thinned it goes a long way.
It should help strengthen your shadows without overwhelming them.

Thanks DR! I'm adding that to my Vallejo list - along with the Air metalics. Part of the problem I'm running into on the head is I had to "find my way" for the first couple of steps, so my little trial and error sent it a bit darker than I wanted. But I've got my path now, and it is improving. I'm pretty sure I can bring it out and now that I know which direction I'm going, the body should be easier (keep your fingers crossed).
But thank you for the paint recommendation. As soon as I can get some more paint, these will definitely be the first on my list.
And great to hear you're getting one too! Is it going to be with the rider or just the dragon?

Suffice it to say I'm painting my own Dragon bust at the moment for next weekend and having a blast with her.
After the show I'm going to spend a day working on my Photo's as it's about time I finally got it right and show myself up.

She's not interesting enough for me to pass out an additional £15, when all I really want is the Dragon.

I managed to get the lighting right so these are actually pretty close to the real thing. I still have a lot of work to do on the horns and teeth tho - I'll worry about those tomorrow.

I'm liking that bronze a lot. Is it done with pigments like the pegasus riding chap in the mask, or is it done with metallic paint? Either way - very nicely done.

Thanks MiJ! Entirely metallic paints - the guy on the pegasus is actually paint too. On the dragon, he has soooo much texture and detail, working in pigments would be next to impossible. I even have a tough time getting decent coverage with paint.

No worries about purchasing. I haven't used them in ten years, I don't think I will. I love painting mounted figures (yes, I'm a fellow horse person) but sometimes don't ever get around to things and lose interest. I bought the Brettonians before I was introduced to the world of 54mm+ mounted knights and such. The dragon looks great so far. Looking forward to more progress.
