Becca and I were talking, My mom is still here cause of the fear factor with this hurricane .... Winds of 175 miles an hour are not imaginable to us.
This is a great site for looking at the reality of the system great satellite views. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/
This Katrina is going to still be a hurricane by the time it gets to Ohio from what the hurricane center projects, that is a harsh reality to think of.
Evil Dave,Iceangel you OK???
I am doubting you will have time to post but when you do will you let us know your OK please. We will be getting bands from the looks of it tonight but nothing like the areas of landfall. Our thoughts are with you all I am sure FL will be sending you aid in the power restoration and other needs you all have helped us in the past as well.... batten down.

They evecuated the ENTIRE city of New Orleans!

They expect the city to be under thirty feet of water!!! :wow:

They say the winds have decreased to only 165 MPH; that just makes me feel shitloads better. Can you imagine... it\'s like a 500 mile wide tornado!!!

It times like this I don\'t feel so bad about our Winter Blizzards, 3 feet of snow has got nothing on 30 feet of water!

Good luck all you Southerners. :(

Ok, we\'re now 40 miles away from New Orleans.
Everything is OK right now, a little rain every now and then. High winds.
I\'ll update more later.

Did you head due North? or go to the North West?
I am rather worried they are using the super dome as a shelter..
CNN Quote
\"We need to recognize we may be about to experience our equivalent of the Asian tsunami, in terms of the damage and the numbers of people that can be killed,\" said Ivor van Heerden, director of the Louisiana State University Public Health Research Center in Baton Rouge.
this is a bad article so I will cut and paste no more than this..It is startling.

My husband was stationed in Gulfport,Mississippi in the navy and called his friends that are still there, we discussed this because the panic in the voice on the telephone answering him was very devastating to him, they have three kids and one has autism, they were racing to leave and the final thing said was they hope they will have a home to go back to. I think we all know the chances are they will not.

I would love to donate a ton of cash but I can not... I do not have it and the small donation I can muster I will, but we have time and paint and extra minis that I was going to sell on eBay.
I have some wood elves and can mail them around to painters that have time and want to rapid fire some pieces out. No big production just mass production. We paint better then the average bear and it would be better than feeling helpless. I\'m sorry but living here in FL it hits rather close to the heart, We indeed could be next.
I suggest no army but troops in waves and cheesy incentives to get them done as well as incentives to get the highest price. I am starting a thread to this effect and will place a link here after it is up.

Dave maybe you could help by telling us later where the money is the least abused and the most helpful. We are thinking of you all of us here.

EDIT: Here is the link.

Category 5 - winds of 270km/h, a 10m water surge? All the best to New Orleans, it truly sounds like devastation on the way, it looks like it\'s there already. :(

Ok, just got power back on.
From initial reports it\'s not as bad as we thought it was going to be.
We\'ll probably hear more in the next few days though.

Initial reports indicate over a million homes without electricity, some flooding in New Orleans and surrounding parishes.
Last I heard no one can get in or out of NO because they\'re checking the bridges to make sure they\'re OK.

I\'ll be back to update later.
