Hey, how come we don't have enough? Miniatures that need to be made.

Conversely, with the sister thread

http://www.coolminiornot.com/forums...ough!-Miniatures-that-are-becoming-overdone-.

Some genres or types of minis seem very under represented in our little world.

What do we want to see more of?

My opinion:

Modern non-combatants. (people walking, using a cell phone, etc...hey and make some chubby, not everyone is stick thin!)

Superheros. Heroclix suck, I wanna see Batman, Wolverine, Capt America, etc, done is METAL (or even resin...and in the proper scale 30mmish)

Classic movie characters. A few companies do a 'not-whomever'. For instance Hasslefree has a 'Cobra', who is NOT-snake pliskin. I love this sort of thing, and want to see loads of movie heros done in this way.

What do you want to see more of?

totally agree. ive recently started sculpting unusual monster minis to get my fix.

on a related note, i hate how all human minis have flawless anatomy, and any slight divergence from it gets loads of criticism. not everyone is shaped the same, and some people are ugly/disproportionate. if you want to sculpt that sort of thing in a not-over-the-top kind of way, the howler monkeys start hooting from the rafters in no time.

lines id like to see:
ugly people: see above rant.
Gods: Itzpapalotl would be hot. butterfly wings and baby skulls = awesome. i think i may sculpt her....
robots that are actually cool: seriously, as much scifi stuff as there is on this sight, there are very few generic robots that arent crap.
pulp mad scientist types: you think they'd be a dime a dozen, but they are actually quite rare.
fantasy non-combatants, including female monsters: they're starting to show up, here and there, but for the most part there seems to be hordes of evil monsters with no family life or opposite sex. of all the millions of orcs and goblins i think ive seen maybe 3 females and most of those had weapons. never seen an orc with a broom. only the very human like races have females in any number, and humanoids without weapons are even rarer.

and more....

more heroes, more zombies (decent) and survivors, be they zombie survivors or just post apoc, more randoms, like you mentioned non combatants etc

decent steampunk

edit- and good pulp stuff, a lot of it is quite clunky for my tastes

I would love to have a go at some of the ideas here, but i think the reason why the bigger companies do not do it so much is due to the low demand. Luckily though I am quite happy to just try lots of different stuff for practice so when my current ogre project is finished up I may try some simpler 30mm stuff that is fairly generic.

Casualties of any sort, both dead and wounded. Along the same line - hospital personnel. My grand mother who went through through the WWII as a first line field hospital nurse used to joke that according to troop composition she sees in 40K universe people apparently self-regenerate and self-recuperate right on the battle field.

I still love the idea of the 'recurring' character.

Hasslefree does a bit of this, but not enough. I want my little warrior guy with a gun, scuba diving, driving a car, parachuting, stabbing something, eating pasta, dressed for the opera, dressed for the antartic, carrying a briefcase, using a laptop....etc. etc.

Kind of how Barbie dolls do it....a new doll for each thing they want to represent.

The modern non-combatants, and sci-fi ones too. More "gang" type of ranges for those periods would be groovy too. Useable in games as well as being enjoyable to paint, gritty low-tech being a popular theme an all.

Good steampunk wouldn't go amiss, but i can easily see why there are few non-combatants figs around. There isnt a whole lot you can do with them and most game systems invole fighting do the figures should reflect this.

thats a great idea. i know fenrell does some fantasy types like this, with low, mid, and high "level" variants. id like to see more too.

ive noticed that reaper is getting in to a lot of these lines of thought with their *chronoscope* range. glad to see these underexploited ideas getting more play.

Yeah, I wasn't too impressed with the Chronopia figs at first, but the ones for the last year or so always seem to have one or two that I love. They are doing a decent job there.

I like the idea of a fantasy gang, could well be my next 30mm project. The "Heads" Gang.

Meat Head - Big lumbering ox type with massive heavy weapon
Crack Head - Pyschopathic type
Dead Head - Sinister and scary
Red Head - Token hot girly
Knuckle Head - soldier type
Egg Head - The brains of the operation
Block Head - idiotic screw up

Maybe a good idea.....

Mentioned in the sister-thread...

Human archers. There aren't enough good ones.
The idea of more variants of the same character also sounds fantastic, to me.

We need more quality licensed (or not...) miniatures from games and movies...

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Oddworld, Halo, FF, Metroid, Killzone, Zelda, Gears of War, Street Fighter, Tekken, WoW, Fallout....

Star Wars, BSG, Buck Rogers, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Matrix, Terminator, Predator, Aliens, Blade Runner, District 9, The Thing, Mad Max, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, House of 1000 Corpses...

I'd like to see more unorthodox undead, for example, we have silly numbers of vampires, but vet few penaggolins. Loads of human and/or elf skeletons, but almost no dwarf or Orc skeletons, loads of zombies, but few dead warriors. Let's see some undead outside of the box! Heh. Pun.

On the note of movies: Id love to see some Clint eastwood characters. Dirty Harry, The man with no name, The good, the bad and the ugly, all three of em. That would be fantastic.
