Hey, look at me, I\'m making molds...

After getting a couple of suggestions to put my Inquisitor and SoB models on tiled or cobblestoned bases I decided to sculpt a couple... and make molds. Here\'s the first of those pieces with a quick drybrush just to pick up some detail.

PS: I really enjoyed this process and plan on making several more. If anyone has feedback on this first attempt, or suggestions for other bases, I\'d be glad to hear \'em. Thanks in advance.

Care to enlighten us on the subject of making molds, perferrably with list of materials and where to get them preferrably online. Oh and nice bases

Me too. I left some cottage cheese in the fridge for a month and made some really impressive molds.

Oh, yours looks great, but it\'s brick, not cobblestone. Cobblestones will be more irregular in shape - basically naturally smooth stones in mortar rather than cut brick. Tile will have tighter joins with barely visible grout lines. Just tips in case you want variety.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I do know that I made brick, and not cobblestone, but I thought it would be an easier first piece for me. Fortunately Google can turn up a lot of street scenes for me to work on in the future.

No real plans on making an article, though I could be talked in to it I suppose. There\'s already a lot of material out there on the process. Mine was a simple silicone mold cast in a paper cup. Nothing fancy.

As for plans to sell them... hadn\'t really thought about it. I\'d certainly be willing to make a batch if anyone sees a piece I make and just has to have a couple. I\'d even be willing to cast bases on request if I thought the project was interesting, but no real plans to produce enough quantity to really bother advertising it.

Thanks again for the feedback -- and I\'ll post more as I make \'em.

Wow, unexpected response. But, seriously, before I consider selling bases I\'d like to clean up the process a bit and have a wider range. I really did this so that I wouldn\'t have to custom sculpt for my the SoB pieces I\'m working on.

If folks are really interested in purchasing though -- PM me and we can work something out.

I\'m also happy to take requests for new bases. This would give me a project and if you like the base you can buy a batch.

This image is also posted in the WIP thread - but I thought I\'d throw it in here to show an example of the first base in use.

I already have two more sitting in silicone and another on the table.
